Today we’d like to introduce you to Leonna Howard.
Hi Leonna, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started dancing with my big sister in the church when she was over the dance ministry. my first ever dance performance was to Trinity 5:7 great is thy faithfulness. from that moment on I fell in love with dance. As a teenager I was a part of the Booker T Washington High School varsity Pom Squad, being a part of this team introduced me to Jazz, contemporary, ballet, and hip hop. This is where I started my professional dance career.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Dance is a reflection of life so of course there have been ups and downs in my dance Journey as a creative. the other side of this is that Dan says helps me through some of my darkest times in my life. I believe that when God gives you a gift it’s to bless others but it’s also to help you in the different seasons of your life and that’s exactly how I feel about dance.

Leonna is the founder of Shake Culture Dance and a certified dance minister through The Eagles Network. Shake Culture Dance is a Christian Dance Company in Jacksonville, Florida that offers background dancers for Christian hip-hop artists, performs at events, choreographs for dance groups and teams, creative directs music videos, offers adult and children dance fitness classes,and hosts hip-hop dance workshops for dance teams/studios all over the world. Shake Culture is currently on a 14 city tour providing hip-hop dance workshops to different dance teams, dance studios, and organizations. On the tour Leonna has worked with SeaCoast Christian Academy, Trinity Christian Academy, Carver MS Pom Squad, Black Christian Influencers Retreat, Sk8hers INC, Far Above Rubies Retreat, The Ark Dance Convention,, AWKN Crew, Speaker Box Party, and more! She is the Creative Director of the #FlowintheSpirit showcase that showcases dancers of all styles worshiping Christ. She is currently the hip-hop dance teacher at Malivai Washington, Sanctuary on 8th Street, and Groundwork Jax. Her credits include Mike Teezy, FatMan Scoop, Divine Connection, 3hre, Jahzythevoice, Ty Scott King, Infiltrate Records, Kid N’ Play, Uncle Reece, Kijan Boone, Kamillion, Marcus Young and more!
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Im also an accountant of 8 years and own my own accounting firm entitled Praiseworthy Finances. I am a creative but also gifted in administration as well. Which really helps me thrive as an entrepeneur
