Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Lott.
Hi Kelly, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, you could tell our readers some of your backstory.
Yes. In September 2022, I received an eviction notice! I was devastated, and I fell into depression. I did not know what I would do or where I would go; I reached out to several people for help, but no one was able/willing to help me. I then began to search for resources in my local area, and I successfully received the help I needed. Unfortunately, my landlords weren’t willing to accept the help that I was receiving. I cried the entire week and prayed. Someone reached out to me and gave me a powerful message I knew only came from God. I prayed again, and on that following Monday, I received excellent news. The news I received was that there was a place for me to stay in Jacksonville, Florida, A roommate opportunity until I got on my feet; I left GA and relocated to Jacksonville, Florida. Upon arrival in Jacksonville, Florida, things did not go as planned, but it worked out wonderfully. After 3 months of living in Jacksonville with a roommate who put me out of her apartment, I got my place. I was able to manage the company properly when renting a 1-bedroom apartment. What a great opportunity! I started managing properties, and after a few months of being a property manager, I gained another chance to be promoted within the company; after that, I became a wholesaler. I have been with the company and in real estate for 1 year—March 13, 2024, made 1 year within the company. I’ve been a wholesaler for 6 months; it’s a blessing.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road, lol. There are a lot of struggles, a whole lot of struggles, lol, especially when it comes to property managing, wholesaling fixer-upper, off-market properties on top of being an entrepreneur, running my businesses, being a mother, and trying to maintain a personal life as well. Some of the struggles I have experienced since I became a part of the real estate industry are“competition,” not feeling confident enough to network, market, etc. Tenants, lol. Tenants can be a handful. Closings Sometimes, getting buyers to close on a property can be a blessing, but it can also make you feel like it’s you against the world. Honestly, I can go on and on about the struggles lol. The primary battle overall has been that being in real estate sometimes takes me away from having a social life, rest, friends, etc. It’s a lot.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar with what you do, what can you tell them about what you do?
