Today we’d like to introduce you to Kate Vivenzio.
Hi Kate, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Kate ViVenzio. Ive been in St. Augustine for over 20 years, I have two teenage girls and a tiny dog and sweetest human in the world for a boyfriend. I owned Bikram Yoga St. Augustine for 15years and had two locations for over 3 years and both are still operating and successful, Blue Cypress Yoga and The Yoga Collective. I sold the studios after some loss in my life including my parents and decided to let go of all things that I thought defined me.
I started working at lululemon in Jax and did that for 8 years and fell in love with merchandising and dressing mannequins and of course the product. Being a shopper from birth my mom took us shopping for therapy, for celebration, for any reason really I can remember her saying on any given day let’s get in the car and go to TJMAXX. Ive always loved clothes and have been a collector since well forever and one day a young student said “if you ever want to get rid of some clothes let me know” I sold her about small collection of my activewear and the rest is history. ViVid was a name I had for a boutique since I was young a little bit of my dad with his last name and the person that made me who I am. He never made me think I couldn’t do something and not be successful. ViVid Reloved is a concept I created. Buying and selling gently used clothes, shoes, bags, and accessories for women of all ages. We have all the styes and brands you love for less and we prioritize “shoppability” over quantity. ViVId is providing an easy, enjoyable way to refresh your wardrobes, earn a little money, and access high quality fashion without breaking the bank of leaving town. ViVid is s curated resale boutique specializing in preowned and new clothing and accessories. Let us buy what you loved yesterday and sell you what you want today.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As I said in the last paragraph my road has been long and windy and sometimes very unknown. Ive had to put a lot of trust in the fact that I was going to be ok o matter what was happening around me. Raising 2 girls, coparenting, owning businesses, selling businesses, losing love and family, changing my path over and over but maintaining a simple and consistent life for myself and my girls. Ive always tried to do what I love and make that enough to sustain a lifestyle and s bit of happiness along the way. It hasn’t always been exactly what I envisioned and hasn’t always been perfect but my girls are healthy and happy and our life is simple. I lost both parents to cancer back to back and I try very hard to put health first. Ive taught tog for 23 years and now I teach a lot of Pilates. I had. retreat to Mexico every summer and most of my days consist of some kind of hot class teaching and taking classes at two local studios fills my cup.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
This newest project has been so amazing. Being able to play dress up every day and I always dreamed of a huge closet, now it’s just a huge closet I share with others. I probably am known mostly for teaching classes, maybe being a little bit of a hard teacher but really just creating discipline and structure in others lives through their bodies. I love activewear and def have a reputation of showing up in leggings instead of a dress but comfort is a style. I don’t know exactly what sets me apart from others except that I hope I stand out. I’m probably the most proud of my girls. Zoey is a freshman at UF which is an accomplishment in itself, but she’s the most amazing human you’ll ever meet. My littles is 16 and we couldn’t be more similar she’s all things fire and we may all hold our breath when she walks in the room. They both love each other and the three of us grew up together they saw me through love and loss in ways kids shouldn’t have to, but they also were my WHY every day all day and still are. Im lucky now to have found a simple and consistent love that gives me the confidence to do and be anything I want in this world knowing I have someone next to me.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Risk is a funny word. I think anything you do in life is a risk but it’s something you either try or not. People would probably look at my entire life and call it risky but I just call it life. I lead with my heart which sounds cheesy but my dad always told me to believe in love and yourself. He was the hardest working man who prob should’ve taken more risk but he chose security instead. I remember begging him to quit his job and become a teacher, he always said he wanted to teach, but he never left that huge corporate job which provided for us but in some ways led to his death. He worked so much he missed games and events and never had time to just rest. I would’ve taken half of what we had growing up for him to be there and maybe still be here. It would’ve been a major risk for him to leave that job and downsize. So all that being said I have tried to do what I love, what allows me freedom to be with my family and hoped success still came with that.
