Today we’d like to introduce you to Jorge Rivera.
Hi Jorge, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2013 started a Youtube Channel, “FirstCoast.TV,” to cover events in St Augustine and later produced a tonight show, “St Augustine Tonight Show,” to celebrate all the talented people in St Augustine. I have been in St Augustine since 2006, before that in Maui (4 years) and before that Europe (13 years). Attended the “American Academy of Dramatic Arts” in NYC in the 80s and was an actor for some time. I am a board member of the St. Johns Cultural Council, The St Augustine Music Festival, and Compassionate St Augustine. I also film documentaries when possible. In 2022 I was awarded the Beaches Chairman’s Award by First Coast Cultural Center.
Would it have been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Rejection and doubt. Lack of sponsors and being able to win the trust of the community.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For readers who might need to become more familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a videographer, a host, a communicator, and someone that makes things happen. I am known to have the pulse of the community, and my goal is to help artists be known and get them to engage in projects that benefit the community.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Perseverance and loyalty.
