Check Out Hector Fundora’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hector Fundora.

Hi Hector, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Fundora Jewelry is the culmination of a journey that began in 1978. At the age of 12 I started learning the craft from my grandfather. With a deep-rooted passion for fine craftsmanship and design, I started the store to offer meticulously crafted timeless pieces. With 47 years of experience working directly in the industry and gaining my experience and skill level I wanted to share that with my community to give them quality jewelry. I owe my entire career to my Grandfather and his passion for the craft. He would spend hours with me teaching me.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting a new retail store always has obstacles. The hardest obstacles is building clientele. In the jewelry industry trust has to be earned. We want to build that trust with our community and show that we are dedicated to excellence. Jewelry has an emotional bond attached to it. We relate our most personal and intimate experiences with jewelry. Our memories are attached to each piece we own. It’s important to build trust that we are going to cherish that piece just as our customers do.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Jewelers are artists. I love to take a piece of jewelry and recreate it into a new piece or just restore the original beauty. My goal is to take the customers vision and make it come to life. My store motto is Restoring the Beauty of Jewelry. In the local community I am the jeweler that people come to for difficult repairs. I have been blessed to have this skill.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
This whole journey has been the biggest risk I have ever taken. I am not usually the person that would throw caution to the wind and go for it. I realized that the only way to really be who I am and create the visions I have was to work for myself. So in order to do that I had to take the leap of faith. I pray daily for the vision and energy to keep going forward.
