Today we’d like to introduce you to Ellis McGhee.
Hi Ellis , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m the Owner, and Coach of Duval Boxing and Fitness Club, LLC in Jacksonville, Fl. I was born in Miami, FL, and have spent the majority of my life in Jacksonville, Fl, and South GA rinsed on a farm. I graduated from Terry Parker High School in Jax, Fl, and served in US Army, 82nd Airborne Division. I coached Youth Baseball, and Football for 12 years, and did about 5 years of Muay Thai training, and over 20 Years of Boxing Fitness and Training.
I decided to open a boxing gym about 3 years ago and my coaching philosophy is, Treat everyone with respect and listen to your client regardless of their age. Coach with positive and strong motivation. Train like a fighter without getting hurt and install “Your Conditioning is Your Confidence and Your Confidence is Your Strength!”
I still work full time for large Mortgage Servicing Tech company since 1994.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’ve been very fortunate to balance a full-time career and business owner and coach. My days are long. I get up at 4:30am and arrive at the boxing gym and train clients to 7:00am. Arrive at work by 8:00am and leave at 5:00pm and back at gym to train clients from 6:00pm t0 8:00pm.
