Check Out Colleen Moore’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Colleen Moore.

Hi Colleen, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m the creator and producer behind Bring Em Out: Duval Fashion Show. I’m also the owner of The Crown Up and The Crown Up Apparel. The Crown Up is my children’s brand, and The Crown Up Apparel is my new family brand. I’ve always been a fashion lover since I was a teenager; I have more fashion sense than now. But I pay attention, and it’s easy to come up with a style or a look when you understand the person. I love complimenting others’ styles and always notice unique looks, self-expression, and the art behind them. Fashion is fun, and to me, it has no rules. There are so many lanes you can take when it comes to Fashion. On this journey of creating fashions, I decided to create a platform for local designers and stylists. I couldn’t think of a better way to bring designers together and highlight their amazing work. I also have past modeling experience, so it was a must I organize my Fashion Show. But not just any Fashion Show. This had to be bigger than big.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Initially, organizing this Fashion Show was not so smooth; it started a bit rocky. It took some time to put together the right team for this event. Once we had the right team, coaches, and models. We spent a lot of time preparing for Bring Em Out: Duval Fashion Show. The model coaches played no games from day one. The models had to learn the basics of dance choreography. Experienced many models, but we did have a handful who were not. We didn’t have too many struggles; everyone involved put in a lot of time and work to ensure this show would succeed. It was a fun process, and we all enjoyed getting to know one another. We all had the same love and passion for Fashion.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
On June 5th, 2022, we had our 1st Annual Fashion Show in Duval County. This show is a Hip Hop Cultural event highlighting the best designers, creators, and boutiques. We decided to dedicate this year’s show to our local Designers. This show is also a dedication to Hip Hop and how much it has influenced decades of fashion. It is also important to the culture because we can express ourselves in many ways. And just as with Hip Hop music, fashion is the one thing we do have much freedom in. This show highlighted fashions from streetwear to high fashion influenced by Hip Hop; It was a sold-out and successful show. The event was also a networking room filled with many heavy hitters in the business. Black Seed Media Network and Evo House of Fashion also covered this event. RJ Island, Realtor, and The Kemistry Lab helped sponsor this event. We hosted our first event in Downtown Jacksonville at The Lark. And we are excited to return next year with even more surprises and a much bigger show. In 2025, we plan to take this show on the road to other cities and, of course, back to Jacksonville, FL, annually. We are excited for what’s to come and hope to bring more excitement to the city.

So maybe we end by discussing what matters most to you and why?
Finding ways to uplift the culture is what matters to me most. I’m not concerned with having the most fame or money, but I am focused on unity. I feel we can gain more and accomplish more by working together. Also, our people are often painted in a bad light in today’s society. I refuse to promote such ignorance, so I choose to promote the good things. I would never want anyone to mislead our youth or brainwash them to believe they have no bright future. We are the most creative race of people on this planet and the most influential. I promote what I see in us, and that is greatness. I celebrate the greatness in all of us.
