Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Box.
Hi Brian, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
We were both raised in very small towns in Southeast Missouri. I am from Baderville and Eric is from New Madrid, about a 15-minute drive down the road. I received a scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State, where I obtained a degree in horticulture. Eric went to trade school to become a lineman and started his career. But in 2004, we both decided to leave the great state of Missouri and come to sunny Florida, where we could perform landscaping services year-round. We rented a little house in Avondale and got to work! We did not know anyone and could not believe how big Jacksonville was. Now, over 20 years later, we have 17 employees, we have an extremely loyal customer base (many of whom we call friends), and we provide maintenance and full landscape design and installation services throughout all of Jacksonville and its surrounding areas – from St. Augustine to Amelia Island, and everywhere in between. We love what we do! And we thank God every day for the opportunity to meet new people and create beautiful designs.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not exactly been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been building a hard-working, dedicated and loyal team. And of course, growing the business by obtaining new customers, while continuing to provide excellent services to our existing customers. We constantly try to improve upon ourselves and set ourselves apart from the competition.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We are best known for our design and installation services. Between the two of us, Eric and I have almost 50 years of experience. We have seen it all, and we understand the science behind using the proper landscape material, including native Florida-friendly plants, to create management, beautiful and healthy landscapes.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
One of the best parts of our job is having the opportunity to meet great people and install landscapes across diverse settings – the beaches, the St. Johns River, historic parts of Jacksonville, Amelia Island and St. Augustine. Our greatest dislike about Jacksonville is the traffic!
