Today we’d like to introduce you to Beth Jordan.
Hi Beth, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to introduce yourself.
My story started approximately 24 years ago at age 35 when I fractured my lower lumbar L4/5 and herniated a disc. This journey of re-hab led me to physical fitness and nutrition as a way of regaining my life. I decided that I could help and serve others who suffered from chronic pain, inflammation, low energy, and weakness. I became an ACE certified Personal trainer, nutrition fitness specialist, and RYT 500 Yoga Instructor and set out to help others with their wellness journey. I started at a brick & mortar gym in Virginia and a racquet club training individuals and teaching group fitness. When I moved to Jacksonville Beach in 2012, I decided to run a Women’s Bootcamp outside M-F. Beth’s Bootcamp is still an integral part of what I do and who I serve. I also have private clients, teach Corporate Yoga and help raise money for the Jacksonville Humane Society by teaching cat yoga ( Meowmaste). My latest adventure is my 360StrongWomen YouTube channel. I started this a month ago to reach more women and help them with fitness, healthy eating, mindfulness, sleep, and self-care. My mission to help others find the healthiest version of themselves continues.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I consider my business a mission and one of service, so there will always be challenges.
1. People are always looking for a “magic pill” to become healthy, and many businesses are selling “magic,” which can leave a negative experience with a client. Meeting people where they are is crucial to meeting their goals. It takes time to build relationships and trust with people, and it takes time for health transformation. It’s my job to communicate effectively and invest in each person’s wellness journey.
2. I’m a sole proprietor and cannot be in front of every person who wants my audience. This is why I’ve created the 360StrongWomen YouTube channel, to reach more women with meaningful content.
3. Covid/global pandemic also was a challenge. The park where I ran Bootcamp was closed, so I had to pivot quickly and go to zoom. I ran the Bootcamp and all my personalized clients on zoom. We had a learning curve but adapted and overcame.
4. Teaching outdoors also brings challenges (weather being the biggest), so we adapt and overcome.
Thanks for sharing that. So, you could tell us a bit more about your work.
I am an Allied Health Fitness professional. I’m a subject matter expert for the American Council on Exercise (ACE), with multiple certifications in exercise and nutrition.
