Alak and Lex Luna’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We recently had the chance to connect with Alak and Lex Luna and have shared our conversation below.

Alak and Lex, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
The beach is one of our most peaceful past times! Lex loves to sit and read, think or do yoga before taking a dip. Alak loves to sun tan. The amount of hours spent on a beach finding ourselves is countless and well worth it.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
We are Queerpedia! A podcast that talks about queer history, queer stories and just all things queer. The models, influencers, activists, and now podcasters: Lex and Alak Luna; are here to create space within our queer community to make more stories heard.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
Lex believed that life was a game where you must build skills and would grow towards an ideal view of yourself. But now she sees that life is for living in the moment and not in Lego blocks of accomplishments.
Alak believed that the world was extremely black and white thanks to their upbringing. They now believe that the world is much more than even grey.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Lex would tell her younger self that its okay to relax. Spending majority of her adult life learning this has been rewarding.

Alak would tell their younger self that mistakes are OK to make and are apart of life. You cant learn if you never fall.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
Lex and Alak both admire eachother for their persistence and dedication to speak even in the face of uncertainty. Lex admires Alaks strength and confidence as Alak admires Lex’s flexibility and empathy.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
We understand that life is more complex than a black and white scheme. That most everything in life is a spectrum, not a gradient
