Rising Stars: Meet Jahnel Burrell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jahnel Burrell.

Jahnel, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Dopetropic Apparel started in my early college days. The scene was more relaxed and students dressed more relaxed in college.

With a combination of creativity, the influence of friends, and my background I found myself designing and curating the logo that Dopetropic Apparel stands for. I had the help of a couple of friends and my brother to help me with the process.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not. The clothing business/apparel business is a monster. There’s so much to learn business-wise and as a newbie designer. There are a lot of expenses and it takes a lot of money to sustain.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I do several things for work. I’d say I’m an entrepreneur. I work for myself doing all kinds of gigs that vary from working on cars, selling cars, working on houses, moving people from house to house, and throwing events, and parties. Very creative and work well with my hands.

What do you think about happiness?
Being able to do what I want when I want to and helping others. When you’re able to do what you want you’ll always be happy and if you can help others while doing that it’s very fulfilling.
