Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyle Bray.
Hi Kyle, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
As a graduate of the Florida School for the Blind, I always knew I wanted to own my restaurant, but I didn’t know how that would look. I worked in multiple restaurants through the years, and the opportunity to purchase my food truck came, and I couldn’t pass it up. We are now the number two rated restaurant in St Augustine and have been voted for best food truck multiple times.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There are always ups and downs to owning a business. I’ve always told people that having your own business is like standing in the street and watching all of the stores around you sell out of everything and supporting them, knowing your day is coming.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am the owner of Uptown Scratch Kitchen, an award-winning food truck in Saint Augustine. We have a large menu hand-crafted over the years, including a Philly cheesesteak, fish and chips, fried shrimp, fried chicken, and burgers.
We all have different ways of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is an objective term. It can mean a happy and healthy family, or it could mean a profitable business. I think success is defined by how hard you work to achieve the goals you set for yourself in your personal and professional life.
