Katrina, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey in the beauty industry has been built on consistency, passion, and real-life experience. With over 15 years behind the chair, I’ve grown from simply doing hair to building a brand centered around healthy hair, luxury service, and education. As the owner of Salon Red and the creator of Naturally “U” Haircare, I’ve always believed in creating more than just beautiful results—I believe in creating confidence and opportunity.
Along my journey, I’ve also had to balance motherhood in a very real way. I am a proud mother, and my son has required ongoing care and appointments throughout his life. Navigating that while running a business has not always been easy. There have been moments of exhaustion, sacrifice, and learning how to show up for both my child and my clients at the same time. But through it all, it has been worth it, and I wouldn’t change my journey for anything.
Those experiences have shaped me into not only a stronger woman, but a more compassionate professional. I understand people beyond the surface, and I bring that same care into my work, my salon, and the way I lead. My story is not about perfection,it’s about growth, resilience, and continuing to show up even when life requires more from you.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced has been balancing entrepreneurship with motherhood, especially while raising a child who requires consistent care and appointments. There have been many moments where I had to navigate being fully present as a mother while also showing up as a business owner, provider, and professional. It’s not always easy managing both worlds, and it has required a lot of sacrifice, patience, and resilience.
I’ve also faced challenges that come with being a woman in leadership within the beauty industry earning respect, setting boundaries, and maintaining standards while building a team and a brand. There were times I had to learn hard lessons about business, people, and protecting what I’ve built.
However, every challenge has strengthened me. It has taught me how to lead with both compassion and structure, how to adapt, and how to keep going even when things feel overwhelming. I’ve learned that challenges are not meant to break you, but they refine you. And everything I’ve experienced has played a role in shaping the woman, mother, and business owner I am today.

Salon Red (By The Blowout Queen) is a luxury salon specializing in all hair types, hair care and silk press services. We focus on healthy hair, professional service, and high-quality results for every client. In addition to salon services, we offer education for stylists, mentorship and our own product line, Naturally “U” Haircare, designed to support and maintain healthy hair.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My advice for anyone just starting out is to focus on consistency and mastering your craft before chasing money or popularity. Take the time to really learn hair, understand different textures, and build a strong foundation. Skill will always open doors, but discipline and professionalism will keep them open.
Don’t rush the process or compare your journey to others. Social media can make things look fast and easy, but real growth takes time, patience, and dedication. Stay committed even when it feels slow, and be willing to learn, unlearn, and grow.
Also, understand that this is a business, not just a talent. Learn how to manage your time, your clients, your money, and your brand. Protect your name, set boundaries, and move with purpose.
Most importantly, believe in yourself even when others don’t fully see your vision yet. Stay consistent, stay focused, and trust that what you’re building will pay off.
