Inspiring Conversations with Mya Parker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mya Parker.

Hi Mya, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Let me start by saying I’ve always had a love for networking and social media since I was in middle school. It all started when I was 19 years old. I was working at Amazon & I started to gain confidence & really worked on myself & my physical appearance. I started getting lots of compliments & people saying how they think I should model.

Fast forward a couple of months later, I started posting a lot more on Instagram and coming out of my shell. The more I dressed up & took pictures consistently the more my following grew. Once I had about 30k followers it has been going uphill ever since (with consistency) I’m now at 96k followers.

With those followers, I’ve been successful at becoming a promoter/brand ambassador for clothing brands & other brands as well. I’m now thinking of expanding my brand & starting a business of my own.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not.

The road has been anything but smooth. There is alot that comes to being an influencer. It was a point where I felt like I was taking on more than what I could handle. It started with consistency. Knowing my followers/fan base and catering to what they like but also being myself & expressing who I really am.

Especially, when it comes to posting it can be a bit hectic. I’m a regular person with a regular job & sometimes it can be hard to fit in pictures and respond to all of my emails with no help. Also keeping up with the latest trends & styles can be hard sometimes.

When I first started it was hard to stay positive especially when it came to certain brands. I’ve reached out to popular brands & have been told no multiple times but I still kept going. Had a positive mindset & more opportunities came

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
So my business is a little bit different from the average business. My business is my face & my name. Because I have followed I can use my following as an audience to sell & promote other products.

I usually promote clothing but I also promote other influencers who have the same passion. What sets me apart from others is I’m me. I’m very passionate about my business & expanding my business, and I feel like my supporters can see that. I work really hard & put a lot of effort into content for them.

I am proud of how far I’ve come & how much my business had helped me grow as a person. I’ve found my passion through my business

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was to myself a lot, really an introvert. I loved nature (still do), and I love, love, loveeee to do my hair & dress up.

Once I was about 12-13, I started really getting into social media, I was obsessed with fashion as well. It kinda calmed down around 15. From there, I was strictly into school
