Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark Rivera.
Mark, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Many people require document notarization, but are unable to travel due to time constraints, mobility limitations, medical conditions, urgent circumstances, or several other reasons. A mobile notary meets this need by traveling to homes, offices, hospitals, correctional facilities, and other locations, ensuring that critical documents can be executed quickly and as stress-free as possible. Meeting this need fueled my decision to become a notary.
I reflected on my own needs for a notary and thought that this is a service that I can provide. Being a mobile notary offers a unique blend of independence, service, and flexibility, while fulfilling the need for convenience and efficiency in fast-paced environments such as real estate, legal services, and healthcare. My journey began in April of 2025 with navigating the initial steps of creating my business, and has evolved into performing more than 100 notarial services in just eight months.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My early struggles included gaining an understanding of the notary business, learning the notary regulations for the State of Florida, researching how to market my business, and being proficient in my craft. Because notary signings vary, it was important for me to know what it takes to provide quality general notary work (e.g., assisting with Power of Attorney (POA), Bill of Sale, and other standard individual signings), and how to create proficiency with diverse real estate loan signings (e.g., property buyer and seller loans, refinances, etc.).
In addition to learning the business, I needed to know the best ways to market my new business. This remains an interesting riddle to solve, but anything worth doing should be done well, which requires a lot of time, research, and resources. Starting the business, learning the business, generating business, and staying in business aren’t unique challenges, but I face them daily and am learning how to overcome each one.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
On The Mark Notary is a Jacksonville-based mobile notary business providing document notarial assistance to help individuals and companies with personal or legal documents. My specialty is offering my clients the convenience of meeting them where they are (e.g., coffee shop, office, home, bookstore, etc.) and having the knowledge to help them with their document(s). A major differentiator is my quality of service and professionalism. I put myself in my clients’ shoes and make it a habit to be on time, professional, and intentional about creating a positive experience.
My brand represents my work ethic and discipline. My clients must understand the process, and my job is to make sure that they are comfortable, which is demonstrated by the clients’ feedback.
How do you think about happiness?
My happiness is rooted in the fact that I am loved – no matter what. There is not a single thing that I can possess that will ever fill me with happiness. The fact that I am loved makes it easy for me to love – and that makes me happy.
