Hi Griffin, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started Helm Outdoor Solutions 3 years ago in my early 20s with just a mower, a trailer, and a drive to build something of my own. What began as simple lawn maintenance quickly grew into a passion for creating outdoor spaces that completely transform how people enjoy their homes.
Over time, I shifted from routine yard work to full-scale design and build projects — pavers, turf, landscape design, outdoor kitchens, and water features. My goal was to become a one-stop destination for anyone looking to bring their outdoor vision to life.
It hasn’t been easy — growing a business from the ground up means long days, learning by doing, and figuring things out through trial and error. But every project, every client relationship, and every challenge has shaped me into the business owner I am today.
Now, I focus on delivering high-end, detail-driven outdoor living spaces and building a team and brand that reflect quality, creativity, and hard work. I’m proud of how far it’s come — and even more excited about where it’s going.

It definitely was not a smooth road getting here. I started this business with no formal background in landscaping or business management — just a vision and a willingness to figure things out as I went. Without any mentors or a roadmap, every decision came down to trial and error. I had to learn everything from estimating and client management to design, crew leadership, and marketing on my own. There were times when projects didn’t go as planned or I took on too much at once, but those moments ended up being the best lessons. They forced me to adapt, problem-solve, and become more confident in my ability to run a business from the ground up.
