Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcella Page.
Hi Marcella, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
My name is Marcella Page, I’m from Homerville, GA, and I currently reside in Jacksonville, Florida. I’m a wife and mom that works in Corporate America and a serial Entrepreneur. Growing up in a small town, I didn’t know about a lot of opportunities. I thought the only way I could be successful is by joining the military or moving and going to college (you can but there are so many other opportunities). I didn’t understand the importance of credit or homeownership and the opportunities from being an entrepreneur.
Although I am a college graduate with a successful career, I still wanted to do more. During my first year of marriage, my husband and I lived in a small one-bedroom apartment. It was a struggle being crowded in one bedroom with my husband and daughter. I dreamed of decorating my daughter’s room in different shades of pink, filling her closet with her clothes and shoes, and having tea parties. Unknowingly to me, my husband started building our exit strategy. He allowed me to use his credit to increase mine. We worked on my credit and then we purchased our first home in 2016. We created our first LLC in 2017 and did absolutely nothing with it.
After a year or two, I got serious about being a “Mom-preneur” and decided to start taking courses for credit repair, taxes, and real estate. I’ve invested in classes, coaches, and mentors while still working my 9-5. In 2021, we purchased our second home and now I have several successful businesses and a thriving career. My goal is to educate and provide services to my community and inspire other moms to be serial entrepreneurs!
I created Gold Mine Consulting Service to offer a “gold mine” of information to create generational wealth by offering tax services and business consultations for startup businesses.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. I was afraid to market my business my first year. I didn’t have the right tools in place or a team to help me. COVID took a toll on me and my daughter’s health and I started to give up. My first year in business has been rocky but I decided to “do it scared”. I continued networking with people in my community and surround myself with like-minded people.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
In my professional career, I’m an Employment Manager. I have a AA in healthcare administration, BS in HR Management, MBA and I’m a certified Human Resources professional (SHRM-CP). I’ve been in HR for over 9 years.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love that Jacksonville is growing but there are restrictions due to COVID.
