Conversations with Stephen Taylor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephen Taylor.

Hi Stephen, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
WNB Entertainment was started by myself and my good friend Jordan in 2020. We are two big guys with beards, so everybody assumes we are related, so naturally, we named our business “We’re Not Brothers.” Although, we still get asked, “are you guys brothers?” nightly. We both love music and playing trivia. We found that most trivia hosts seemed to just be reading questions and not enjoying themselves. So we figured we could make it much more fun for everyone if we hosted ourselves. I bought some speakers and a microphone and landed our first gig in November 2020. With positive word of mouth, we have been able to host trivia and Name That Tune all over Jax. We’ve also hosted Birthday Parties, work functions, and weddings. We haven’t looked back since. We’ve since made numerous upgrades to our equipment and are ready to host any event you may have.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like any other business, there are always ups and downs. We are coming off almost 2 years of shutdown due to covid so Restaurants and bars have seen a lot of challenges as far as bringing customers in. Therefore, it can be a struggle to keep consistent gigs. Every entertainer, I’m sure, has felt the pinch over the past two years. Thankfully every time a gig is lost, another one has been found not long after. We seem to have found a permanent home in Nocatee. The community has embraced us and we have multiple shows there every week. We have hosted at Really Good Beer Stop since March 2021 and are there every Wednesday and Friday for Trivia and Name That Tune, respectively. We also host the community trivia on the first Friday of every month at Spray Waterpark for the residents.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
We specialize in having a good time. We play good music and enjoy every second of every night we host an event. You will always catch us singing along to just about every song we play. We want to ensure you’re having a good time as well.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Our families and friends, including our photographer, Christina Hirte, and our regulars, have become friends over the past 2 years. Also, the people of Nocatee and perfect beer stop.

Special shout-out to Alexandria Robinson and the rest of New Kids on the Noc as she hired us for our first private event last year, and it was a blast. And also that guy who always requests Fat Lip by Sum 41. You know who you are.
