Today we’d like to introduce you to 904 (Goo-Gong-Sa).
Hi 904, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
DAVII) (who is a rapper)
-I have loved writing since I was young and even dreamed of becoming a writer or working at broadcast industry. I also admired music that could blend lyrics and melodies to move people emotionally. When I was young, I wasn’t much of a singer, so I didn’t initially aspire to do music. But discovering hip-hop changed that. Hearing artists share their personal stories inspired me to write my own and express them through music.
To this day, I believe the true power of music lies in telling a genuine, heartfelt story.
9room) (who is a director & mix engineer)
-I was just a normal boy with big dreams. I think of myself as a painter. Over time, I’ve gathered a palette full of colors (Dreams), and even now, I’m still adding to my drawing on blank canvas. After graduating from art college, I decided to go on the music life and eventually formed this team. I’m a director, also, a mix engineer, constantly working to grow my skills as a director.
My goal is to become someone who can thrive across various fields.
hagi) (who is a producer)
-I started playing the piano at the age of seven and have always been close to music. Over time, I realized I didn’t just want to listen to the music I loved—I wanted to create songs that captured my own emotions and share them with others. That’s when I began composing in high school. I’ve explored various genres like hip-hop and indie music, and I continue to experiment. But no matter the style, what matters most to me is conveying my feelings through my songs so that listeners can feel something when they hear my music.
I’m working hard every day to make that happen 🙂
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
DAVII)
-When it comes to making music, I think creativity can feel draining. If I don’t have something I really want to say, creating a song can sometimes feel more like stress than joy. That’s why the idea of creativity not being limitless can make me feel uneasy at times. Thus, looking back on my journey so far, I don’t think I’ve taken the easiest path, but I guess that’s what makes it meaningful.
9room)
-My answer is YES, BUT NO. It’s undeniably tough to create art without exceptional talent. Even though I’ve worked hard to develop myself and tried my best in everything I do, the hardest thing for me is when I’m left with even a little bit of regret. But I know it’s inevitable, so what makes me hard also makes me stronger. I believe it is essential to identify gaps and fill them, rather than settling for where you are. Every hardship and difficulty is always a good opportunity for me to discover a new perspective.
hagi)
-What started as something I loved became my work, and with that comes a lot of stress. I want to create better songs and share them with more people, but I’ve realized there’s so much beyond the music itself that I have to think about and take care of. There have been plenty of challenging moments along the way, but I try to see it all as part of the process of growing into a better person. No matter what, I always aim to approach it with a positive and joyful mindset.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
904 is currently a three-member team. Unlike teams with multiple vocalists, we are centered around one vocalist and supported by two producers who handle composition, mixing, and overall production.
To briefly introduce each member, our vocalist is Sung Sihun (real name), who performs under the name “DAVII.” The producers are composer Baek Seunghak (real name), known as “hagi,” and mix engineer Koo Minsu (real name), who goes by “9room.”
How do you think about happiness?
DAVII)
-Recently, I took a short break from making music, just a few days to step back. Even when I visited places that would be on most people’s bucket lists, I realized I wasn’t there just for the joy of seeing the sights. What I was really searching for was inspiration and energy to pour back into my music. When I came back and started creating again, it hit me: even though music is my bread and butter, it’s still my biggest passion and something I genuinely enjoy doing. These days, I feel like the situation of making music itself brings me the most happiness.
9room)
-Anything can make me happy, it all depends on my mindset. There are so many things to do and experience around us, but most of them only bring temporary happiness. I’ve never had a moment of overwhelming joy, so instead, I focus on finding happiness in the small things. By learning to love myself and creating a life I’m satisfied with, I’ve realized that these small joys naturally permeate a part of my daily life. Whether it’s listening to good music, eating delicious food, having pleasant conversations, dreaming, or exercising, all of these little moments add up. They’re what make every day something to be grateful for and truly happy about.
hagi)
-Whether it’s finding inspiration in daily life, turning that inspiration into a song, or hearing people’s reactions after releasing it—there’s not a single moment in that process that doesn’t make me happy.
I‘m trying to find joy in the little things and live with a positive mindset as much as I can. I think that’s how those feelings naturally find their way into my music, and maybe that’s what helps make listeners feel happy too. 😉
