Today we’d like to introduce you to LaToshia Hall.
Hi LaToshia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
So nearly 20 years ago, I was working in corporate America and for lack of words, hated it. At the time, I had a young daughter who had Eczema and on occasion, it would flare up really bad especially in extreme temperatures. One day, I got a call that my daughter was sick after being outside in the heat and I needed to pick her up, my supervisor at the time told me it was not a good time to leave and if I did there was no need to come back because there was no guarantee I would still have a job.
It was at that moment, that I realized how dispensable I was as an employee, there was no regard for my sick child at all. Fast forward to today and that was one of the best decisions I could have ever made. I started my real estate career in 2002 and went independent in 2010. Over my career, I have listed and sold hundreds of properties to my clients and also through contracts with government entities.
This career path has afforded me the opportunity to cater my schedule around my husband and my three daughters who are all currently in college with the oldest graduating law school in less than a month!
Covid definitely changed my business in ways I could have never imagined. Since 2020, I have been almost as busy as I was during the foreclosure boom, several families have decided to move to Jacksonville as the cost of living is way less compared to similar metropolitan areas. The pandemic also gave me time to reflect on some of my childhood dreams and one was to be an actress.
I attended a casting call in 2021 and since then I have been in 2 sold-out stage plays, a movie, a short film, and as we speak I am getting ready for another sold-out play. Sometimes a dream delayed doesn’t mean denied, but just maybe it is not your time yet. I am super excited to see what the future holds in store!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been easy over the years. When I got into real estate I was in my early 20s and most agents definitely did not look like me.
I went through discrimination from not only my colleagues but potential clients as well, but I did not let it stop me from reaching and exceeding my goals. I believe actions speak louder than words and my sales track record definitely speaks for itself.
So many times people will let others’ opinions of them get them down instead of turning that into an opportunity to say the tried and true, never judge a book by its cover.
We’ve been impressed with Powerhouse Realty Inc, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
With nearly 20 years of real estate experience, I have become one of the city’s go-to agents and I am a consistent leader with a reputation for being loyal and always protecting my client’s interests.
I have an unparalleled professional track record among independent brokerages in the area and attribute that to my high work ethic and standards. I have always shown the ability to satisfy my clients whether individuals or institutions and this repeat business is a reason I have and will continue to be very successful in this business.
I specialize in helping first-time home-buyers realize the dream of homeownership. I will be there to hold your hand and guide you through the home-buying process as it can be quite overwhelming at times. Education is paramount and the vital foundation needed at the start of the home-buying process.
I do not just want to just sell a home, I want to ensure they are able to keep and maintain that home so setting up a budget is a must. I am currently working with a large corporation that is a bridge to homeownership for those who may have a few issues stopping them from being able to buy right away.
During these trying times with so many investors competing for the same property, it puts them in a better position to compete and lock in today’s pricing. I am also very knowledgeable in the real estate investment business and can assist you in building generational wealth through investing as well.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success, for me, will always be about making a difference in other people’s lives.
If I know that at the end of the day my work has helped someone or made a positive impact in their life then I sleep well at night and wake up eager to start all over again the next day.
