Inspiring Conversations with Chris Brock of Chris Brock Landscape Architecture

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Brock.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey into landscape architecture began in Northwest Indiana, where I grew up exploring the Indiana Dunes and swimming in Lake Michigan. These early experiences sparked a deep appreciation for the natural world and a curiosity about how outdoor spaces shape our everyday lives.

I pursued that passion at Purdue University, earning my degree in landscape architecture in 2009. While in school, I immersed myself in the profession through internships in New York City, Fort Lauderdale, and Denver—each offering a unique lens into the diverse ways landscapes influence urban life, coastal communities, and mountain environments.

After graduation, I spent over a decade living and working in Maui, Anguilla, and St. Kitts & Nevis, where I designed luxury resort gardens and private residences. These island experiences taught me how to create low-maintenance, climate-adapted landscapes that feel luxurious while being rooted in ecological sensitivity. I became passionate about using native plants, local materials, and natural systems to design spaces that are not only beautiful, but sustainable and site-responsive.

Now a licensed landscape architect in Florida, I focus on crafting high-end residential gardens and private outdoor spaces that blend elegance with environmental integrity. I approach every project with a collaborative spirit—working closely with homeowners and architects to ensure the final landscape is both functional and inspiring.

I believe that great landscapes do more than look beautiful—they foster lasting memories with family and friends and deepen our connection to nature.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Working in the Caribbean taught me that great design is only part of the equation—execution is where the real challenges lie. Managing high-end landscape installations in places like St. Kitts & Nevis meant navigating customs delays, shipping complications, and limited access to materials and equipment.

Every project required flexibility, creative problem-solving, and close coordination with local vendors and crews. These experiences sharpened my ability to adapt under pressure and deliver thoughtful, resilient landscapes—even in the most logistically complex environments.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
