Check Out April Lewis’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to April Lewis.

Hi April, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Duval Babes started from my personal need for genuine connection and community. I was navigating business, motherhood, and healing and realized so many other women felt the same. I created a space for us to support each other, grow together, and feel seen. What started locally has become a movement of sisterhood, empowerment, and shared success.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not a completely smooth road but it’s been worth it. In the beginning, I was nervous. I had just moved to the city and kept wondering, “Will other women even show up? Will they connect with this?” Starting something new in a new place was scary. But I leaned into the vision and trusted that the right women would find the space and they did. The biggest challenge was getting out of my own head and allowing the community to grow organically.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in business consulting, credit education, and community empowerment. Through my brand Flourishing Finances, I help individuals and families improve their credit, build financial stability, and create income opportunities. I’m also the founder of Duval Babes, a women’s empowerment community focused on connection, healing, and growth.

In addition to that, I shoot content as a content creator something that started as a hobby and quickly became a creative outlet I genuinely enjoy. It allows me to tell stories, support small businesses, and bring my brand visuals to life in a fun and authentic way.

What I’m most proud of is creating spaces whether digital or in person where people feel seen, supported, and equipped to change their lives. What sets me apart is my heart-led approach. I’ve lived through the setbacks I help others navigate, so everything I do is rooted in real experience, not just theory. It’s about impact, not just information.

How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is seeing people win especially when they’ve overcome real challenges to get there. Whether it’s someone improving their credit, launching a business, or simply feeling more confident and connected, knowing I played a small part in that transformation brings me joy.

I’m also happiest when I’m creating whether it’s building community, capturing content, or designing something with purpose. It’s the freedom to express myself and help others at the same time that truly lights me up.
