Today we’d like to introduce you to Sustang Sally.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
The members of Sustang Sally – Sally (Brianna Knisely) and Dave Ricci – met in March 2025 while buskin’ in Old Town St. Augustine. Sally had just picked the guitar back up after a long hiatus and Dave was exploring new ventures up the coast. A jam session broke out on the street corner and the two have been playing music together ever since.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
So far, it’s been unbelievably smooth. The support we’ve received from people everywhere we play has been encouraging and especially helpful. We’ve gotten tips on places and people to contact for gigs and we have fans that visit with us in our regular spots weekly. The videos, photos, likes, and cash tips help with motivation, too!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We play the blues. Sally shreds on electric guitar and sings soulful melodies and Dave holds it down with pounding rhythms on bass and drums at the same time. What sets us apart is that we have all the elements of a four piece band – vocals, guitar, bass, and drums – yet we are two people! Dave’s foot drums made by a brand called Farmer are always a hit with other musicians. They have 12 pedals that allow for a full drum sound while leaving the player’s hands free to play another instrument simultaneously.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
We celebrate life through our music. We love making connections with other people. We’re always happy to hear stories, laugh, and get people dancing. We have big plans for the band, including writing original songs, working with additional musicians, and playing larger venues. As of now, we’re enjoying the journey every step of the way.
