Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamielynn Cohn.
Hi Jamielynn , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I come from a small town called Meshoppen Pennsylvania, to say small I mean a graduating class of 60 people lol. I moved to Jacksonville after attending University back home that I could no longer afford. I moved in with my older sister who lived in Jacksonville, and started working as a server. My sister was diagnosed with a pseudo tumor and had to move back home. My options were to stay here alone at 18 or move back home and figure out life from there. My option seemed unquestionable that I would stay and start life here. I met a mentor at my serving job, that said id have a great personality for Real Estate, so we continued the conversation, and I eventually started the process to take my test and get licensed. Life threw a curveball my way and I was shortly expecting a baby while studying for my exam. I was 19 at the time, and was just starting what I thought was my life. I took a few months off due to health problems, but decided to jump back in it as this was the way to provide for my new life and my new baby. Covid ended up coming just a few short months later, which ultimately shut down the world, and I was able to put my career on the back burner and focus on being a new mom. When my son turned 11ish months, I was expecting again and life started to become the new “normal” again. I found my first brokerage and hung my license and started practicing Real Estate. The things I had to overcome within a short timeframe to get to where I am today, has ultimately landed me here. A mom of two and an entrepreneur putting things that are important to me and my family at the forefront. While becoming a mom unexpectedly and going through covid, it taught me that life is not perfect, and its already mapped out for you, you just have to embrace it. Be true to who you are, and dont let the distractions stop you from being who you are and what you are supposed to be doing.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Covid, Family seperation, becoming a young mom, having a partner that is already career set, while you try to balance and find yours.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Im a local Real Estate agent that loves helping first time home buyers, and making paths where there arent any. I am much more than just an agent, im a friend, im a celebrator, im a problem fixer, im a confidant, im a challenger, i am who I didnt have when I was younger. I am proud that my brand stays true to who I am not matter the obstacles, or distractions that get in the way.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Surround yourself with those that love and support you but also challenge you. I have friends and mentors that don’t ask why I did it, but why don’t you do it? They trust my decisions, and even if they dont, they still support and are there when I need uplifting. No human has all of the answers, no one can tell you which path to take, you have to do it yourself and bounce back when you get knocked down.
