Meet Sabrina Taj-Taj of Saint Augustine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabrina Taj-Taj.

Hi Sabrina, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey into acupuncture started when I got diagnosed with HPV in my 20’s after having had awful interactions with my doctor. Luckily, I took my mother with me to an appointment. After the up tenth appointment, that was only painful with no change in my diagnosis, my mother said: “We are done with Western Medicine” and we started looking for alternatives. Through the help of a holistic practitioner, I cleaned up my diet, removed some stress from my life, and started doing the self-care things (massage & yin yoga) and behold! My HPV started to go away! From there came the wish to provide the same help I received from my mother. I want people to know they CAN feel better. There are other routes available. And that is how I enrolled into acupuncture.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing is a smooth road! Learning about acupuncture was literally like learning a foreign language! I had to relearn how to process symptoms. And then once done with my schooling, I then had to embark on teaching others! Acupuncture has come a long way from when I first started studying it 20 plus years ago!!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am known as a Fascia Enthusiast. I think most problems can be resolved by treating your fascia, and then the rest with acupuncture. I specialize in breaking down your scar tissue (fascia that’s been knotted up) and de-stressing you!

I am most proud of having moved across the country almost 4 years ago and reopened my practice here in Saint Augustine, FL! It is thriving!

What sets me apart from others is my motto: Hang Out & Heal. I love getting to know my patients, whom I call my peeps, and working on helping them heal, while we chat and work out life together.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Just give acupuncture a try. It’s nothing like you are picturing in your head. It does not hurt the way your doctor/nurse has made you hurt by drawing blood. I actively AVOID going into a vein!! Acupuncture needles are the thickness of a strand of hair. I promise, you’ll love the experience, particularly if you come see me!
