Today we’d like to introduce you to Ken Bacchus.
Hi Ken , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Ken Bacchus, I’m a Guyanese fashion and portrait photographer currently based in Saint Augustine, Florida.
Art has been a part of most of my life but I’ve been a photographer professionally for a little over seven(7) years now. I dabbled in almost every type of photography until I settled on being solely interested in fashion and portraits. There’s an Adrenaline rush that just takes over when I’m working on a project with models and designers and just bringing an overall concept to life with a creative team of people.
Being from a culturally rich country like Guyana, there was no shortage of creative ideas and people to work with, which in turn helped to challenge me to be more innovative with my own work as a photographer.
As challenges go, moving to the US has also demanded that I elevate my brand even further, especially on the business side of things. Strategic marketing and networking has always been apart of the job but I’ve definitely had to “up my game”, since being in a broader, more diverse creative environment.
Being Freelance definitely has its advantages, but it sometimes also feels like you’re never doing enough or as good as you should be doing. Which has its own pros and cons, but I think it benefits me to keep holding myself to higher standards and always raising the bar on what I can do and achieve.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’ve definitely had my ups and downs over the years but thankfully I’ve always had a good support system through most of it, whether it’s the amazing people I get to work with or friends and family.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I think luck has had a small part to play in everything I’ve achieved over the years. I believe as long as you’re intentional with the choices you make and you’re ambitious enough, what you put out will return to you in equal or even more force than you expected.
