Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Hicks.
Hi Tiffany, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey has been anything but traditional—but that’s what makes it powerful. I’ve been in the beauty industry for over a decade, and I’m now entering my 12th year. My passion for beauty and transformation started as something I did on the side, but it quickly turned into a purpose-driven calling. I unofficially launched my brand, Artistry by Tiffany J, in 2014—doing makeup for friends, family, and local clients—while working full-time in education. By 2018, I officially turned it into a business and began building something sustainable and impactful.
At the time, I was also serving as a Dean of Students for both middle and high school in New York and later in Florida. I juggled both careers—helping students grow academically and emotionally by day, and helping women feel confident and beautiful by night and on weekends. That dual journey taught me so much about leadership, consistency, and trusting your process even when things don’t look glamorous.
Today, I’m a Beauty & Business Strategist. While I still offer luxury makeup services, I’ve evolved into image and beauty consulting—curating full style transformations for women, especially those in public-facing roles. I also support women in building additional income streams, especially those who are ready to walk away from burnout and into a life that aligns with their gifts.
My brand is all about elevation—from how you show up to how you earn. Whether I’m working with a bride, a boss, or a woman in transition, my goal is to help her look powerful, feel confident, and build a life that reflects her worth.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but every part of the journey has shaped who I am today.
Like many women, I’ve had to navigate life’s transitions while still showing up for everyone around me. Building a business while working full-time in education was already a challenge—but that chapter became even more complex when I went through a divorce. That season forced me to start over—emotionally, financially, and spiritually completely. I found myself in a new city, in my 30s, rebuilding not just my career but my entire life—with a child depending on me.
As a mom, that kind of shift comes with an entirely different level of pressure. I had to figure out how to create stability for my child while still healing, growing, and trying to hold on to the vision I had for my life and business. There were many moments of uncertainty—times when I questioned if I could do this on my own if I was making the right choices, or if it was “too late” to chase the life I wanted.
But as a person of faith, I’ve always believed that purpose can be found even in the most painful moments. Starting over in my 30s taught me strength, resilience, and grace. It taught me how to ask for help, how to prioritize myself, and how to trust timing—even when it didn’t make sense.
Every struggle, every delay, and every detour led me to this version of myself. And today, I use those experiences to not only fuel my work, but to help other women do the same—elevate their look, rebuild their confidence, and create the life and income they truly deserve.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Artistry by Tiffany J is more than just a beauty brand—it’s a luxury experience rooted in confidence, transformation, and intentional style. I launched the brand officially in 2018, but the heart behind it has been growing since 2014. What started as me doing makeup for weddings and events has evolved into a full beauty and image consulting business that caters to women who are ready to elevate how they show up in the world.
I specialize in luxury makeup services for brides, women in media, and public-facing professionals, but my work goes far beyond the brush. I help women refine their image, align their wardrobe with their goals, and step into rooms with confidence and presence. I now offer personal styling, complete closet edits, and high-touch concierge services that support women in not only looking good—but feeling empowered in every area of life.
What sets Artistry by Tiffany J apart is the intentionality. Every face I touch, every look I curate, every detail I plan is done with purpose. I care about the woman behind the glam—the CEO navigating motherhood, the bride embracing a new chapter, or the speaker preparing for the spotlight. I’ve created a brand that honors both beauty and identity.
I’m most proud that my brand doesn’t just serve—it transforms. Women walk away from my services not only looking their best but also feeling seen, heard and celebrated. That’s the real glow-up.
For readers who are just discovering me, I want them to know that Artistry by Tiffany J is where luxury meets authenticity. Whether you’re preparing for your big day, needing a personal brand refresh, or ready to upgrade your image and income, I’ve created a space where you don’t have to choose between beauty and power—you get both.
What were you like growing up?
My sister always says I came into this world with a big personality and an even bigger presence—and honestly, she’s not wrong.
Growing up, I was the one who could command a room without even trying. Whether I was delivering pretend sermons on the coffee table or standing up for someone being mistreated, I was always bold, vocal, and protective. I had a natural sense of justice, even as a little girl. If someone wasn’t being kind, I had no problem stepping in and letting them know—nicely, but firmly.
I also had a deeply nurturing side. If someone in the family was sick or going through something, I’d grab my blanket and sit with them just to make them feel better. I’ve always believed in showing up for people—not just with words, but with presence and intention.
And even then, I was all about beauty. I loved looking nice, doing my hair, putting together cute outfits—even playing in makeup when I could. I knew the power of presentation early on. For me, beauty wasn’t just about appearance—it was a form of expression, care, and confidence.
Those early traits have followed me into adulthood and entrepreneurship. I’m still the one who leads with compassion, protects what I love, and doesn’t shy away from speaking truth with grace. That foundation built the woman—and the brand—I’ve become.
A phrase I live by? “You can be soft and still stand strong.”
It perfectly reflects who I am: a woman of elegance, confidence, and quiet power.
