Today we’d like to introduce you to Tatiana Henderson.
Tatiana, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started cutting my own hair during COVID to stay safe, then began cutting coworkers’ hair to help everyone follow regulations and for practice. I quickly fell in love with barbering, pursued formal training after leaving the US Navy, and set a one-year timeline to build my clientele. Through social media marketing, I built a national presence and successfully transitioned into a private studio. Now, three years into owning my studio, I continue to market on social media and collaborate with brands.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road hasn’t always been smooth, but it’s been manageable with ups and downs. A lot of my journey involved consistent investments in finding the right equipment, supplies, and techniques. There were struggles with last-minute cancellations, no-shows, and juggling a schedule as a full-time college student while maintaining a fully booked barber schedule. As a high-demand barber, I’ve faced challenges in meeting all the demands. In the beginning, there were days with no clients, but I pushed through by creating a buzz and continuously marketing to a constantly changing audience.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a barber and UGC content creator, known for my “day in the life” videos that give people a glimpse into what it’s like to be a barber, both inside and outside the shop. What I’m most proud of is the growing audience I’ve built, especially the aspiring barbers who reach out for advice on starting their careers. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that I’m making a positive impact on others’ journeys. What sets me apart is my ability to blend my passion for barbering with content creation, allowing me to connect with a diverse audience while showcasing the realities and rewards of this craft.
What makes you happy?
What makes me happy is making people happy through creativity. Whether it’s crafting a great haircut or creating content that resonates with others, there’s nothing more fulfilling than knowing my work brings joy and inspiration to people. It’s that connection and positive impact that fuels my passion.
