Conversations with Jordan Dzialoski

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Dzialoski.

Hi Jordan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always felt torn — in the best way — between my love for the arts and my passion for the medical field. As a teenager, I immersed myself in orchestra, photography, theatre, and physical arts. Then, in adulthood, I discovered a strong drive to help others through emergency medicine, starting as a volunteer EMT for the local fire department.

I continued exploring both worlds: studying photography in school while also earning my phlebotomy certification. I took on various roles throughout the years — EMT, phlebotomist, medical assistant, nursing assistant, pharmacy technician — always learning, always growing. At the same time, I never let go of the creative side. I taught painting classes, sold my artwork at local markets, and worked on and off at LUSH Cosmetics for about six years. I felt like I needed to collect as much life experience as possible before truly finding where I belonged.

Looking back, I’m incredibly grateful for my career journey — the wide range of skills and perspectives I’ve gained has been invaluable.

A big part of my constant need for change and growth stems from growing up as a Navy brat. Moving often and adapting to new environments from a young age taught me how to be open to change, explore different paths, and not be afraid to start over when something didn’t feel right. That mindset gave me the courage to explore the world widely and curiously, and eventually helped me realize what I was really looking for: a career that allowed me to blend both passion and purpose.

I started getting piercings the moment I turned 18, and was immediately drawn to the culture and the craft behind it. Body piercing felt like it connected everything I loved: art, anatomy, care, and creativity. That combination just feels so natural to me.

In my early 20s, I remember calling around to local shops, practically begging for a chance at an apprenticeship. It didn’t happen then, and I believe that was for a reason — some things really do fall into place when the timing is right, and I don’t think I’d be the piercer I am today without the years of various work experience under my belt. A few years ago, the opportunity finally presented itself: A friend and fellow artist told me about a shop looking for an apprentice, I took the leap, and the rest is history!

Since entering the body piercing world, I’ve had the opportunity to join the Association of Professional Piercers (APP), work in a fast-paced, high-end studio with beautiful, high quality jewelry, and grow alongside some incredibly talented piercers. I’ve met so many amazing clients and fellow professionals who continue to inspire me every single day.

Looking ahead, I’m excited to keep expanding my knowledge, stay active in the APP community, and hopefully mentor others entering the field one day. There’s always more to learn, and I’m here for all of it.

I finally feel like I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be at this moment— now working at East Coast Worldwide in Jacksonville, FL, I’m surrounded by a supportive, talented team at a studio that shares my values of safety, quality, and client-centered care.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road — but I think the bumps along the way have only made me more passionate and determined.

One of the biggest early challenges was giving myself permission to pursue this career in the first place. For a long time, I saw piercing as something I was interested in and could be passionate about, but didn’t think I could actually turn into a “real” profession. It took a lot of unlearning biases and building confidence to realize that not only is this a valid career path — it’s one that requires serious skill, education, and dedication.

After starting my apprenticeship, I quickly learned that not all mentorship is healthy or supportive. Unfortunately, abusive and/or gatekeeping mentors are still far too common in this industry. I experienced that firsthand, and it was one of the most difficult parts of my journey. Instead of fostering growth, that environment was built on fear and control, and it took a toll on my confidence and mental health.

But that experience became a turning point for me. I realized how important it is to advocate for yourself, to seek out safe, respectful work environments, and to never lose sight of why you started in the first place. I was lucky to eventually find a healthier, more professional studio, and a community where I could grow, learn, and rebuild trust in myself — and in the industry.

Rebuilding wasn’t easy, but it gave me the chance to redefine what kind of piercer — and person — I wanted to be. I stopped minimizing myself and started using my voice to stand up for what I value: integrity, compassion, and respect.

There were also the usual growing pains — adapting to a fast-paced studio, learning proper technique, and how to manage both the physical and emotional sides of client care. Piercing is incredibly rewarding, but it’s also demanding. You’re holding space for people during very vulnerable moments, while maintaining precision and safety with every procedure.

Through it all, I’ve been incredibly lucky to have a strong support system. My family, and my partner have been behind me every step of the way — encouraging me to take the leap, reminding me of my worth during the hard times, and celebrating every win, no matter how small. I truly wouldn’t be where I am without their belief in me.

Every struggle has shaped me into who I am today. I’ve learned to be resilient, compassionate, and clear about my values. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and those challenges have only deepened my commitment to making this industry better— for both clients and piercers. I want to be part of the shift toward an industry that values mentorship, equity, and care.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a professional body piercer, and I genuinely love what I do. My work is rooted in both precision and presence — making sure every client feels safe, informed, and genuinely cared for while receiving high-quality, anatomically sound piercings.

I’m a proud member of the Association of Professional Piercers, and I’m constantly investing in continued education to stay up to date with the highest safety and industry standards. You can catch me in Vegas this summer for the annual APP Conference! I’m always looking to grow, connect with other piercers, and stay “sharp” in my craft.

I specialize in curated ear projects and custom jewelry styling. I love working with clients to find intentional pieces that complement their anatomy, personality, and overall aesthetic. There’s something so special about helping someone decorate their body. It’s like wearable architecture — every angle matters, and every detail counts. I’m passionate about using high-quality, implant-grade jewelry and helping clients understand why quality matters for both safety and long-term healing.

I also perform nipple and genital piercings, which can be incredibly affirming for many people. Whether someone is reclaiming their body after trauma, exploring their identity, or simply wanting to feel more confident in their own skin, these piercings can hold a lot of emotional significance. I approach these procedures with the utmost care, consent, and respect — creating a safe space where clients feel empowered, informed, and in control of their experience.

Diversity and inclusivity are also part of my core values — I want every person that walks into the studio to feel welcome, respected, and celebrated, no matter their identity or background. Piercing is for everyone and every-body, and I’m committed to creating a space where that’s reflected not just in my words, but in my actions. Everyone deserves to feel empowered in their body.

What I’m most proud of is the environment I’ve created. Whether someone’s coming in for their first piercing or their fifteenth, my goal is always to meet them with patience, compassion, and respect. I want every person in my chair to feel seen and heard, never rushed or judged. That trust means everything to me, and I work hard to earn it.

What sets me apart is how I blend my medical knowledge, creativity, and compassion. My background in healthcare gave me a strong foundation in anatomy, hygiene, and safety — while my creative roots keep me inspired. I see each piercing as a creative collaboration with the client, not just a procedure.

At the end of the day, the most meaningful part of my work is my clients. I get to be part of their milestones, their self-expression, their healing — and I never take that for granted.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me are the people, pets, and spaces that keep me grounded outside of work.

My family, and my partner, Zach, have been endlessly supportive, especially as I’ve navigated such a chaotic, non-linear path to get where I am. They’ve cheered me on through career changes, tough decisions, and moments of self-doubt — always reminding me of who I am and what I’m capable of. That kind of unconditional love and support means everything to me.

My cats — Gus, Gaia, and Ivan — are a big part of why I love coming home every day. They keep things playful, cozy, and just chaotic enough to stay interesting. They’re my little comfort crew, and life just wouldn’t feel the same without them.

Something else that really matters to me is carving out time to relax and reconnect with myself. Piercing is incredibly rewarding, but it can also be intense — emotionally and energetically. So I make time to enjoy my hobbies: I shoot 35mm film, collect vinyl records, and frequent the beach and antique stores. I really value quiet moments where I can slow down, unplug, and just be. Creativity outside of work keeps me inspired.

And of course, my clients matter deeply to me. I wouldn’t be here without their trust. I feel honored every time someone chooses to sit in my chair. Being able to hold space for people during meaningful moments in their lives is my favorite thing in the world.

All in all, what matters most to me is connection — to the people I love, the work I care about, and the parts of myself that thrive when I’m living authentically and with purpose.
