Hi Courtney, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey started from a place of deep reflection and change. Losing my dad tragically left a huge void in my life and made me realize how short and precious time really is. It hit me hard that I was spending so much of my time working a 9-5 job, stuck in someone else’s dream, while I was missing out on moments with my child and on creating a life that truly mattered to me. I knew something had to change—I couldn’t keep living this way.
That was the turning point. I made the decision to build a life that worked for me, one that allowed me to be present for my son and to truly live my own dreams. This is when The Home Guru FL LLC was born. What started as a small cleaning business quickly grew into a platform for freedom, connection, and purpose. I wasn’t just cleaning homes; I was creating spaces for people to feel at ease, and in the process, I was creating a life for myself that felt more aligned with my true values.
But I didn’t stop there. As I continued to build and grow, I realized I could do even more. That’s when I launched my new business with Farmasi, a brand that’s not just about great products but about creating a lifestyle. The products I work with are things that make everyday life feel exciting, beautiful, and a little romanticized. Because I believe that life’s everyday moments are worth celebrating, and we shouldn’t wait for “special occasions” to feel good or be our best.
Through all of this, my mission has been simple: to build a life that’s truly worth living. I want to show others that you can create a path that’s quirky, spunky, and 100% yours, even when the world around you may not understand it. You don’t have to fit into someone else’s mold or chase someone else’s idea of success. You can find your own way—just as I’ve done—and make it a life full of joy, passion, and purpose.
This journey has been one of self-discovery, growth, and deep gratitude. And I’m excited to continue sharing it with others, especially with my son, and empowering other women to do the same. This is just the beginning, and I can’t wait to see where it all goes.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has definitely not been a smooth road, but every twist and turn has been worth it. One of the biggest struggles I faced early on was having to recycle help—hiring and re-hiring people as I worked to build the right team. It wasn’t easy to find the right people who aligned with my values and vision, but each experience taught me something valuable about leadership, trust, and what it takes to create a successful business.
Another big challenge has been the loss of clients—some of the very first ones I thought would support me in the long term. It was tough letting go of those who I thought were in it for the long haul, only to realize they were more comfortable watching me stay stagnant rather than thrive. Saying goodbye to those clients wasn’t easy, but it was necessary. I’ve learned that sometimes, in order to move forward, you have to let go of what’s no longer serving you, no matter how familiar it may feel.
Financially, it’s also been a challenge, especially in the beginning. There were times when I put more money into the business than I was receiving, which made me question if I was doing the right thing. But despite those struggles, I’ve found that the freedom and the ability to live life on my terms have been worth every sacrifice. It’s been a journey of patience, perseverance, and growth—learning how to balance the financial side with the passion that drives me.
One of the reasons I wanted to create this freedom was because I’ve always dreamed of being able to take vacations with my kids a few weeks out of the year, rather than being stuck in town just being “the help.” Now, I provide that same freedom to others by letting them work their own hours and schedules. It’s fulfilling to know that what I’ve built allows others to have that flexibility, too.
While the road hasn’t always been easy, the lessons I’ve learned and the resilience I’ve built have made me stronger. I’m proud of how far I’ve come and excited for where this journey will continue to take me.

I am the founder of The Home Guru FL LLC, a company dedicated to providing exceptional cleaning services in the Hernando County area. We specialize in deep cleaning, maid services, and move-in/move-out cleaning, tailoring our offerings to meet each client’s unique needs. Our goal is to create clean, comfortable spaces that our clients can truly enjoy.
