Today we’d like to introduce you to Tisa Montgomery
Hi Tisa, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
As a child I struggled with obesity. So naturally it was important for me as a mother and an educator to bring awareness to way to prevent childhood obesity. In 2015, I created an organization call MFIMH (My Fitness is My Habit). MFIMH is an organization founded on that key principles of total body wellness. This includes mental and physical wellbeing. These principles are aligned with overall health. Eating healthy and living an active lifestyle requires
commitment and the ability to put yourself first.
Today, MFIMH has taught over 200 instructional lessons to adolescents and adults about making the transition to living a healthy lifestyle. As the CEO facilitate Healthy Habits lessons to students on the elementary level. These lessons include learning how to read food labels, identify healthy and non healthy foods, as well as using the hands on approach to develop healthy snacks.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Creating an organization focused on living a healthy lifestyle for both children and adults has not always been a smooth road. In the beginning stages of development gaining buy in from participants was challenging. This was due to participants finding it difficult to acknowledge their current lifestyles are not as healthy as they would like to believe. The buy in shifted once I started to tell my personal story. I became more relate able to the participants making them feel more comfortable with sharing their personal struggles. It was in this moment I needed to do more to have an impact and reach more people. The first step in doing so has to include me being very transparent and sharing my story on a platform. I started attending health and wellness local conferences and events to network. I even started sitting on panels to share my story and knowledge.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
