Hi Yvette, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Rustic in Love is a family-run business that was born from love and creativity. I’ve always loved to host events and bring together loved ones, where they can step into a new world with each gathering – weather it was a medieval castle, a 60s party, a carnival, or intimate get-togethers like bridal showers, baby showers, and birthday celebrations. Every event was always crafted down to the smallest detail.
With a background in advertising and pre-school education, creativity is in my spirit. I like thinking outside the norms, putting together spaces that are one of a kind, and bringing an experience to life.
For years, I was encouraged by friends and family to turn my hobby into a profession, and after being laid off from a job of 16 years during the pandemic, I finally decided to take the plunge and pursue event planning. With the pandemic, the desire for meaningful, at-home experiences inspired me to create events that could be brought directly to you, transforming any space into something magical.
A year later, my oldest daughter started planning her wedding. As you can imagine, I was there for every venue tour, catching every detail, and throughout this process, I thought, why can rustic weddings only exist in a formal venue? why couldn’t we bring this experience to us? At the end of the tours, I had decided that everyone should have the option to host their dream wedding, baby shower, or bridal shower in a rustic setting, no matter the location.
Rustic in Love is exactly what its name suggests: we bring rustic boho-chic style to you for your events celebrating love. We believe everyone should have access to a rustic touch for their special moments of celebration. We specialize in rustic and boho celebrations, from baby sprinkles and showers, birthdays, bridal suites, welcome events, graduations, anniversaries, proposals, and weddings — we can transform any space at home or venue – into the space you have always dreamed of!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The first challenge I encountered was being laid off after 16 years of working as a Senior Manager. When I started working at this company, it was a family business, and after 10 years, it grew into a big corporation with a new way of treating employees. The company was sold to merge with another large company in 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, and unfortunately, the majority of the employees were laid off.
Once I decided to start Rustic in Love, my next big challenge was a financial one. I had to start by purchasing inventory and equipment, which required a large investment. After several months, we found just the right items for the rustic-boho brand.
Finally, the biggest challenge has been learning all about tax forms and starting a new business. Filing the proper paperwork, and having to dive into creating contracts, invoices, and filing the DR-15, 1065, BOIR report and more. It was a big learning curve for someone who has never had to manage that part of a business, but after many hours of research and learning, I was able to complete them all successfully. It was such a relief!

The brand we’ve created is to serve families that cannot afford to host a social event in an expensive venue. Rustic in Love was created for people that want something unique but affordable. For those looking to host their event at their home or an affordable venue like a clubhouse.
We’ve also launched new packages that cover other event necessities, like a bridal suite brought to you or proposal packages with or without a romantic dinner setup. We specialize in unique and affordable, always having our clients in mind.
We create beautiful, customized events for couples, families, and friends. While we love making every moment memorable, our services are designed with adult gatherings in mind. However, kids are always welcome to be part of the celebrations!
