Today we’d like to introduce you to Dee
Hi Dee, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is DeeMontana and i’m from Orlando Florida, the west part exactly and where it ain’t so Disney everyday. Growing up in Orlando wasn’t easy and it was very dangerous especially living a certain way but you can say I over came that as well. I been rapping since i was 6 years old. I made my first song when i was 10 years old for my 5th grade graduation, i had my own set and i performed at my graduation at 10 years old. Going into middle school i started making music, when i was 12 years old and i was making songs everyday and dropping them and people at school was starting to notice i could rap. Going into high school i stopped music to focus on sports, but when i got to my senior year my love for sports was running out and i was quickly finding my love back in music. So at 17 years old i decided to quit and take this music thing seriously, 2 years later we have DeeMontana.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The hardest thing I had to overcome in my career so far is getting kicked out by mom and disowned by some family members while trying to chase my dreams at 17 years old. I wanted to quit so many times on this because my own family quit on me so why not? But I didn’t give up and I don’t plan to either anytime soon.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I do music. I’m known for over coming anything. I believe so much in my music because it’s different. My music represents who i am, its a release of anger and stress and it’s comes from the soul. I’m proud of myself to honest, most people hop on a track and say the same thing or not enough, when you hear my music it’s gonna make you wanna hear more because you never heard anything or anyone like me before. What separates me from everyone else is that I put my everything in my music, I’ve never played on a mic anymore, this is therapy for me.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
People can work with me by reaching out, I’m always down to work and do new creative things. You can support me by just listening to my music, all I want is to be heard.
