Check Out Nil Senturk’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nil Senturk

Nil, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hello, I’m Nil Şentürk.

I am a tattoo artist, and I moved to America four months ago. Before coming here, I owned my own tattoo studio in Istanbul. I’ve been tattooing for five years, but when I first started, I had no drawing skills or knowledge of art. It was an incredibly difficult journey for me.

However, I improved myself by working hard, constantly practicing, and never losing my passion for this art. Moving to America has been a new challenge for me. Adjusting to a new culture, building a client base here, and continuing to develop my art hasn’t been easy. But I believe that every challenge will push me further.

For me, tattooing is not just a profession; it has become a way of expressing myself. I am continuing this journey to take my art even further and to gain new experiences

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Honestly, there has never been a straight and easy path in tattoo artistry—at least not for me. When I first started, I had no drawing experience, which made the process even more challenging. I had to develop my artistic skills while also learning the technical aspects of tattooing.

One of my biggest struggles was overcoming self-doubt. In the beginning, I constantly questioned myself: “Am I good enough?” But I didn’t give up. I kept practicing, studied different techniques, and learned from experienced artists.

Moving to America was another major challenge. I had to start from scratch—building a new client base, understanding a different tattoo culture, and proving myself in a new environment. But I see all these struggles as part of my journey. Every challenge I’ve faced has shaped me into the artist I am today.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
For me, tattooing is not just a profession; it’s a way of expressing myself. When I started this journey five years ago, I couldn’t draw and had no artistic background. But with my passion for this art and determination, I developed my skills. I worked hard to create my own style and constantly learned new techniques.

My area of expertise is realistic large tattoos. I focus on detailed work and large pieces that require realism. I enjoy reflecting my clients’ stories and emotions in my tattoos. I believe in giving my art meaning and enabling people to express themselves through my tattoos.

What I’m most proud of is how far I’ve come despite not having any artistic background. I taught myself how to tattoo, developed my skills with patience, and opened my own studio in Turkey. Now, I’m starting fresh in America, working to take my art to the next level.

What sets me apart is starting from scratch and progressing with great dedication at every stage. I build a special connection with my clients, turning their stories into tattoos. For me, tattooing is not just about the design, but about immortalizing a feeling or a moment.
