Hi Keyanna, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey into the world of baking began in the warm, inviting kitchen of my grandmother. As a child, I spent countless hours helping her during the holidays and family dinners, where I discovered the joy of creating delicious treats and the magic of bringing family together through food.
When I became a mother, I wanted to share that love and passion with my daughter. I recognized that baking could be an engaging way to teach her the importance of math and science. Measuring ingredients, understanding ratios, and witnessing the transformation materials into delightful confections became our special bonding experience. It allowed her to become more interested in both subjects and baking many treats in which we ate together.
Fast forward and now I found myself at a crossroads. In early 2025, I was laid off from my Corporate America job, a moment that forced me to reevaluate my priorities and aspirations. I realized that I had been treating my home bakery, KK Sweets Boutique, as a mere hobby instead of the thriving business it had the potential to be. This wake-up call ignited a fire within me to fully embrace my passion and take my baking to the next level.Now, I stand at the threshold of my purpose, ready to pour my heart and soul into KK Sweets Boutique. My journey has come full circle as I transform my love for baking into a blossoming business, where I can share my creations with the world and inspire others to find joy in the kitchen. With every cake, cookie, and pastry, I aim to create a little piece of happiness that brings people together.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road to establishing my own bakery has not been smooth as I had to continue to deal with my own fear of stepping out and just doing it. As well as not looking at the current sector and feeling like it’s already saturated so why another baker, what makes my cupcakes, cakes, and other desserts different? And now being a full-time entrepreneur and business owner as I was layoff from my corporate america job after 19 years the beginning of Jan 2025.

Over the next 5-10 years, I envision the baking industry, including KK Sweets Boutique, experiencing significant growth and transformation, driven by evolving consumer preferences and trends. There is a growing demand for personalized and unique dessert experiences, which will encourage bakers to experiment with flavors, dietary options, and innovative designs. As health-conscious choices gain popularity, we may see an increase in gluten-free, vegan, and low-sugar treats, allowing us to cater to a broader audience. Additionally, the rise of online ordering and delivery services will continue to shape the way customers access their favorite sweets. My dream for KK Sweets Boutique is to transition from a home-based operation to a vibrant storefront, where customers can engage with the brand in a welcoming environment.
