Life & Work with Andrea Hibbert of Northside Jacksonville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Hibbert

Hi Andrea, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m not quite sure what story you’re referring to.

Acting: My friend, Ronechia Poole had the great idea to make a movie (Jungle, Street Life) and asked me to be apart of it. Who knew years later, i would be back in front of a camera.

After filming, (15 years ago), I focused on raising my two kids, now adults Ahmad (21) and Ahmya (20) and never thought about it again. Once my daughter graduated high school, besides work I felt my life had no substance and went through the blues.

I decided then, I wanted to start back acting! Pushing my way forward, I found an acting class that allowed me to meet many different people in the field, connect with casting professionals, film, and TV directors, etc.

Since returning, I have been in two TV series; Calm, Sparkle by Kimberly Pittman and Where Do We Go From Here by Thomas Woods. A film; Incomprehensible by Hubert Roberson and currently rehearsing for a play by Hubert Robertson that’s based on a true story more information about that coming soon.

When I’m not working or filming, I enjoy spending my time bartending for my company 1221 events (IG: tashdatenda) making my candles (IG: arareblackrose) and working on my own television production show that I intend to call black girls going well….. I love a good word play (lol).

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, the road has not been smooth trying to raise two kids as a single mom sometimes it’s challenging as we all may know the economy is not doing well. Sometimes one job just does not seem like enough however, you learn to get through it once you put your trust in the man above, knowing that he will guide you through and clear the path for you.

For me trying to be a entrepreneur while having a full-time job and raising two children, it has been a struggle because sometimes you win sometimes you lose but if you don’t try, you really won’t know right so no matter if I feel like I failed I get back up and I’ll try again.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I like to think of myself as a woman with many hats. While I must say that acting is my first love I also like to work behind the scenes because I wanna know how it works from start to finish and not just show up and do my part and that’s it. No, I like to know A-to-Z with everything that I do. I’m more of a hands-on person. I like to see how things work, which makes me find quirky sometimes.

I’d have to say my proudest moment is just seeing my kids, both graduate high school and move on in life and not get caught up in society and social media and things of that nature.

How do you think about luck?
It’s never luck. It’s always God and he plays a major part in my life and my business.
