Meet Victoria Schultz of Ocean Shores Massage and Spa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Schultz

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I became a licensed massage therapist when we moved to Florida for my husband’s job. I had just graduated from Purdue University with my Bachelor’s in Health Sciences. My daughter was going off to college. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life at that point. Then I saw massage therapist were in high demand here in Florida. So I went to Alpha School of Massage in Jacksonville, it was there that I learned about working with the VA to provide medical massage for veterans. I knew that was my calling as I grew up in a Navy household, my husband was a Navy Retiree of 20 years and I was also a Navy veteran. I have been working with the VA and many veterans for the past year and it has truly been an honor getting to know these men and women. There is absolute nothing better than getting a text message from a veteran the day after their massage saying “ they had the best night sleep because of the massage they received”. I truly love my job and my clients!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wish I could say smooth sailing, but starting a business from scratch is truly not for the faint of heart. I do not know about everyone else but for me it’s truly a 24/7 job. I am the everything the therapist, the CEO, the office manager so my job is truly never done. When I first started out before I started working with the VA which is a process in its self, I had to figure out how to get clients. It was extremely hard work and I used Groupon to gain clients. It worked and I still after 2 1/2 years have most of the clients that started out with me. I no longer have to use Groupon as the VA and word of mouth has kept me extremely busy. For that I am truly grateful!

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Ocean Shores Massage and Spa?
I am a Licensed Massage Therapist in Fleming Island, FL. I specialize in medical massage for our veterans. I am a Reiki Practitioner, Sound Healer, and I am now doing the viral trend of Korean Head Spa. In my practice I am very proud to say everything I do is from a Holistic standpoint. Many of my veterans/clients come in not only in with physical issues/pain but mental pain. I want all my clients who come in there to feel relaxed and comfortable at all times. My whole purpose in my business is to help my clients feel their absolute best and leave knowing that I gave 100% of me so they can go out into this world calm and relaxed.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I would have never thought I was a risk-taker but obviously you have to be to start a business from the ground up. The risk I took was leaving a stable corporate massage therapy job to venture out on my own. But I believe in myself and my own work ethic that I knew no matter how hard it was going to be I was going to make this work. I think if a person wants to do something and it’s on their mind all the time, then I say you have to go for it!
