Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Clements
Hi Jasmine, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
In 2019, I finally saved enough to move into my own apartment, but soon after, life threw me a curveball. I suffered a sciatic nerve injury that left me in a wheelchair for six months, leading to the loss of my job and home. Without work or a steady income, I turned to my loved ones as well as creativity to support myself. That’s when HeavyCloud was born. Selling my paintings and experimenting with candles became my lifeline. HeavyCloud candles weren’t what they are today—I put in countless hours of research and trial to make them eco-friendly, safe, strong. I want people to see the love poured in each one.
Connecting with people at markets ,when I moved here in 2021, became my favorite part, as I got to see firsthand the impact my candles made. Hearing from customers about how my candles helped them unwind, focus on themselves, or brought joy to their loved ones is incredibly fulfilling. Though my focus has shifted more to my portrait photography work, HeavyCloud will always have a cherished place in my heart, and I’m grateful to continue sharing it with my community.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Juggling both the creative and business sides of HeavyCloud has been challenging. My background is more on the creative end, so I had to learn about marketing, finances, and logistics along the way. Every new challenge has taught me something valuable, but learning how to wear all those hats can be overwhelming.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a multi-disciplinary creative, specializing in photography, candle-making, and creative direction. Photography is the core of my work, where I aim to capture moments that feel authentic, intimate, and true to each subject. I’m most known for this—creating imagery that resonates with people, whether it’s in portraits, editorial work, or brand collaborations.
HeavyCloud, my candle brand, came from a deeply personal place. I started it during a challenging period, and it’s become a way for me to create something tangible that brings comfort and warmth into people’s lives. Knowing that these candles help others feel more connected to themselves and their spaces is something I’m incredibly proud of.
As a creative director, I enjoy the process of curating environments and experiences that feel cohesive and inviting. From designing spaces to directing photo shoots, I love bringing a vision to life in a way that feels immersive and true to the story we want to tell.
What sets me apart is my dedication to creating work that feels personal and brings a sense of connection to others. Whether it’s through a photograph, a candle, or a creative project, my goal is to create pieces that leave a lasting impression and help people find beauty in the details.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
For photography, I’m always open to working with brands, individuals, and publications that resonate with my style. Whether it’s portraits, editorials, or creative campaigns, I’m excited to work with people who value authentic storytelling and unique visuals.
For those interested in supporting HeavyCloud, you can find them online or sometimes at local markets, where I love getting to meet customers in person.
If you’re interested in creative direction, I collaborate with brands and artists to bring cohesive, visually compelling projects to life. I love working with teams to curate aesthetics for everything from photo shoots to event spaces, and I’m open to discussing new ideas for creative partnerships.
Lastly, simply engaging with my work by sharing it, leaving feedback, or reaching out with ideas is a wonderful way to connect. I truly appreciate the support and the chance to connect with people who feel inspired by what I create.
