Today we’d like to introduce you to Santana Simmons
Hi Santana, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I moved to Jacksonville, Florida from Nashville, Tennessee, Tennessee in 1993 or started tattooing at Inksmith and Rogers on Atlantic Boulevard. I open my own studio in 2001 called Oddity Ink . in Jacksonville Beach. I am currently tattooing at Untouchable tattoo located in the Avenues mall
I’m known to have a famous clientele like rock stars like Aaron Lewis of Staind, Rappers as Trina and NFL players as Fred Taylor. And much more in 2001 cofounded the Jacksonville tattoo convention with my brother. Jacksonville has been a home to me on and off for the past 31 years While traveling the world tattooing.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a Smooth road. Plenty of ups and downs. The financial crash in 2007 and Covid were difficult.. The tattoo industry has made a lot of changes and today Has become a very saturated industry. Today it seems you need to be a content creator on top of being an artist.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a tattoo artist at specialize in custom tattooing everything from portraits to traditional style tattoos. Set me apart is my experience and knowledge for the craft. What I am most proud of is my daughter. She is an amazing artist also.
