Hi Ann, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Ann Marie Holmes, and my professional music artist stage name is MzzBrownSugar aka LadyB, I’m a Indie RnB, pop, hip-hop, singer songwriter from Jacksonville, FL, recording my own music out of my home studio, I do taxes as a tax preparer and owner of a custom-made t-shirt printing store and $2 dollar fashion jewelry store name is mzzbrownsugarsweetthangs by day and a full-time music artist, I enjoy writing my own upbeat high energy dance music and love songs that are sure to get the crowd rocking and singing along with all of my songs, I have a new hip-hop/pop song out now titled ‘jump and slide’ It is a fun upbeat dance song sure to get you on the dance floor all night long jumping and sliding, My future goals and projects is to produce my very first music album, i have six singles out now in all streaming stores, as well as my music artist website @www.mzzbrownsugar.com i have a live show coming up i will be performing live @Issues lounge address:114 E Indiana Ave, Deland, Fl, 32724 @9:30pm Saturday, November 16, 2024 i enjoy creating beautiful music and performing live and rocking the house with all of my amazing fans spreading love to the whole world thru every lyric, my goal is to be the best music artist and creator and move my family from having nothing to something so they never have to struggle ever again, i enjoy dancing and singing and making others feel good thru every song and beat i make in my home studio, i create and make custom-made t-shirts for different occasions birthday, anniversary, etc. my future vision and goals is to have my very own record label one day to be able to help support other local indie artists
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
it has not been a smooth road some of my struggles along the way is while on my music journey as an upcoming music artist my beautiful mother whose name is Shirley Ann Edwards passed away rest in heaven mom and that was very hard for me, i am my mother’s youngest child the baby girl of two other siblings, then my brother gets sick and is hospitalized and i had to help take care of my brother to make sure he is taking good care of because he is my one and only brother and i love my family these are some of my many struggles along the way and i also was trying to start my own talk show named themzzbrownsugarshow was a struggle while trying to deal with other personal things in my life like not having much money to provide for my family
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a singer songwriter, RnB, pop, hip-hop Indie music artist, I record and produce my own music out of my home studio in a room in my house that me and my handsome husband my love my rock, created and decorated ourselves so that I can have a special place to go in and create great music and I also create and make my own custom music artist merch, flyers, business cards, CDs all by myself, I taught myself how to do all of my music projects, merch, marketing, for my music business as a professional music artist, I am able to save a lot by learning how to do a lot of things myself and having my own custom-made t-shirt shop and learning how to make my own t-shirts and merch, I also specialize In preparing clients tax returns as a professional tax preparer
what sets me apart Is I write and sing about my real-life love story and things I have witnessed or seen in my life or had to deal with It, And what I am most proud of Is my strength and courage that I do not let my struggles stop me from living my dream, I keep moving forward and not looking back, working my way to the red carpet at bet
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
My advice to networking Is whenever you have a live show and perform don’t just leave right after you perform, stay and mingle a little bit with others and that Is how you can meet other artists and promoters and network, Also remember that if you have a dream struggles may come but brush your shoulders off and keep moving forward don’t let nothing and no one ever stop you from living your dream
