Today we’d like to introduce you to Shakir Seagers
Hi Shakir, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
It started with me coming of this world tour with 24kGoldn and YBN Cordae. Me and some friends came together to revitalize our community parke which have not been touched in over 25 years. We came up with the funds to place new rims and backboards up. We started doing a few community events such as a park pizza party and a back to school drive. Suddenly after that Covid hit us. Mental health hit hard for some people, kids transitioned to remote learning and parents became teachers. After we came out of lock down my community needed to be rejuvenated so I officially launched Theory 9. Hosting many community events, workshops and basketball tournaments for the kids it just became something the community started looking and gravitating too. Kids love sports which helps with mental health amongst other things so we started a basketball program which is now the home to over 300 youths across the Tristate.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing is ever smooth or perfect. Running your own business you are going to run into some trial and error. And your job is to learn what works for you and continue to grow from that. And that’s what I have done to continue to elevate the organization.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Theory 9 Incorporated ?
The founder of Theory 9. I am a A&R who specializes in music management and consulting. With over 18 years of experience in the music business. Helped discovered artist such as 24kGoldn, Kaash Paige, & Lil Loaded who all signed major record deals and became platinum selling artist. Toured 3 worldwide tours.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Every Thanksgiving in Philly at my great grandparents home and just growing up with my brothers. We would do everything together. My mother passed when I was 5 so my father stepped up and held us down.
