Rising Stars: Meet Kaylee Christmas of Northport

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaylee Christmas

Hi Kaylee, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
When I was 5 years old I watched Icarly and it became my favorite show ever to watch. My parents let me have their blue cam recorder to use. I started to record myself pretending I was on Icarly and I named the show Ikaylee. I would just sit there in front of the camera playing with my Barbies and showing the camera proud. Growing up I was always in front of the camera or on stage. I did pageants, cheer, and dance. In 5th grade Mrs.A made me sign up for the news in my school and I was able to be in front and behind the camera and it made me have a lot of interest in being in front and behind the camera. When I got older I wanted to start vlogging but I got made fun of a lot and was insecure about being a content creator. When 2020 hit and I lost all my friends I decided to take my Instagram more serious. I got my first PR this year and in 2021 when I went to college I started my YouTube. I started getting paid collabs around 2022/2023 ish and now I do content creation full time and make good money doing what I love and been doing forever. It’s my dream to be a travel content creator and when I graduate from the University of Alabama this fall I have plans to follow my dream. I can’t think God enough for all the opportunities and things I have done while being a content creator and I cant wait to see what he has to offer for me in the future.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I didn’t jump from 2,000 to 23k followers over night. It took time to grow and with that discouragement. I would always compare myself to others and ask why they are doing better than me or whatever it is. It was hard to see the growth on Instagram and tik tok and hard when brands don’t want to work wit me because I mainly do paid collabs. Sometimes I feel the worst and feel like I don’t do well at my job and then there are days where I feel like I am proud of my work and am happy of the outcome. Its a rollercoaster. The worst part is when your friends who you thought where your friends make fun of you. My closest friends always get my PR that I don’t use. When other see that I do this they get mad and start making fun of me. My sorority sisters would always make fun of my channel and watch my youtube videos and just laugh at me. I stay strong as I am so lucky to have this be my job and they were fake to me anyways.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I love to be my own style of a film maker. I love to film and create a story for travel, I love travel content so much and what sets me apart is how I can capture the beauty of this world. I want to one day become a full-time content creator traveling the world and capturing the beauty of this place. I love looking to travel content as well cause there is so much to see in this world. I love to film details and anything that can make a story. I love to vlog and tell my viewers what it is like to travel to that place and I love to take Instagram photos to entice people to travel there. Since I started raking photos when I was young I have loved to capture aesthetic photos and hope to one day work with a lot of hotels and airplane companies.

What are your plans for the future?
I graduate from the University of Alabama this December and I have plans if God has it in store for me to travel the US and the world to create content. I hope to live in an RV travel the united states looking for tourist places and capturing what all the US has to offer and travel over seas to work with travel companies to capture what they have to offer for people looking for a vacation.
