Exploring Life & Business with Author Dee Evans of Rise2Write Publishing LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Author Dee Evans

Hi Author Dee, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Before starting my publishing company, I worked part-time as a Life Coach for a practice I founded, “On the Go Life Coaching,” and as an Account Executive in sales for over a decade. I worked for Fortune companies like Yellow Pages, Coca-Cola Beverages, World Pay, and startups in the Fintech industries. Even though I enjoyed sales and had unlimited earning potential, I felt stagnant in my professional career as a young Black woman with several degrees. I no longer felt the same passion for what I was doing. During the pandemic, a client approached me to publish a book he had written. Despite initially declining, I eventually agreed after prayer, much consideration, and research. This experience inspired me to start writing for myself, since I always dreamed from a young age of writing a book. I have since written and published over 12 titles and 4 storytelling series. While writing my books, I was still working in the Fintech industry and coaching. When I was laid off from my role in the fintech industry, I felt like it was a sign from the Most High God for me to start my own publishing company. Rise2Write Publishing was born from my love of writing, passion for publishing, and desire to serve others. I sincerely believe in empowering individuals from minority backgrounds of all ages to share their talent and stories with the world through publishing.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. I started my company after being laid off without business funding or grant money, building a publishing company from the ground up in no joke. I am still learning as I go and embracing all the challenges and lessons the publishing industry faces. It’s the only way to learn and not make the same mistake twice.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love best about Jville is being near the beach, enjoying the slower pace, family atmosphere, food, and abundant water. What I like the least is the high crime rate percentage.
