Today we’d like to introduce you to Bulletproof.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Well, it started back when I was in 4th grade, I was in school chorus, choir in church, writing my own songs on the guitar and singing karaoke to my mom’s to every hit song on the radio in the Livingroom.
Preforming and singing and entertaining were always my passion as well as playing football. For pregame and workout’s or just balling on the courts, me and my homies would always listen to Tupac, OutKast, biggie, No Limit and more and go back and forth rapping wishing it was us. It was just the way I was brought up freestyling was for fun until I was told I should take it more seriously and stop giving it away for free. I laughed, but it was true all my friends said I had something. So, I started focusing on taking it seriously back in 2006 and never turned back.
With help from artist and engineers that I had made friends with thru the years I started recording. Shout out to Zebulon, QD’Up, 360 studios, Rodger beats, Umbravo, Traqhouse, Big Chop studios and more. I found a passion in hip hop because being able to express my life’s choices and feelings in music this way was like therapy.
I liked all kinds of music don’t get me wrong, but I truly felt that hip-hop was by far my favorite genre and I wanted to show everyone that I could and that I had what it takes in the industry to make it.
So now almost 20 years in the making, independently with all the struggles I’ve had to overcome I am finally getting my chance to perform for many showcases as well as win showcases. In Quincy Fl thru Phi Entertainement that gave me a distribution deal for my song “Making Money” with Embark distribution.
I performed in the 2024 Jacksonville Duval Spring Fest mic madness artist tournament hosted by Antonio Bandz and KTown Kriss, Dj Big Benn and Dj Souljalife of fleet djs with VIPSquadNations Dez Nado and came away with a win against sum dope talented artist.
That got me studio time in Jacksonville Fl and an opportunity be a part of the 2024 HipHop awards in ATL and not to mention countless showcases with B moss with Mossfest Ent which is where i won on the Atlantic records Stage after being chosen from the Tallahassee artist showcase at Sharkeys, Also Young Nino and Prezidental Worthy with Rap Analytics showcases, Adam Allen with Phi Entertainment, Chizzle the showcase at Goldie Sound Productions and GuerillaNation showcases. I’d like to shoutout the people in my corner now helping me achieve theses goals and ambitions, TribeNation, TraqhouseStudios with Rel, Humble Hustler with Joe and Jerzy, Umbravo, Abasio Ogun with OGUN Music Group, BMB aka BeastModeBoyz, Paul Reed aka Da Beast, Dj Butch with CountyBoyz, Rello and K Savage with Money Sign and others I could go on forever…
I feel this is the ultimate dream being fulfilled and manifested by God himself. Because everything is moving in the right direction for the past 5 years and I’m just thankful to be able to do what I love and have people tell me they love my music along the way cause that’s what it’s all about.
I want to let people know my history, my endeavors, trials and errors and experiences, things I’ve been thorough good and bad and things I’ve seen or experienced good and bad first-hand. I hope to not change hip hop but add a different flavor to the industry. I have done about 35 shows in 2024 including open mics and drop mics. I plan on collabing with other artist and shooting music videos and dropping new music as much as possible moving forward, so be ready for Bulletproof to take it to the next level as always.
I’ll always do my best to give credit where it is due, and I am glad to say the lord has brought me here and has put the right people in my path and brought me this far for a reason. This next year will be the biggest yet stayed tuned. Bulletprooflimitless on IG and Bulletproof1 on all music platforms and YouTube. Thank you to Voyage Jacksonville Magazine for this Opportunity as well and remember never let someone choose your life’s choices, u choose your future no one else does. Bulletproof
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not exactly smooth. There’s always trials and tribulation but it’s not how u see the storm it’s how u make it thru it.
We all have storms just different hurricanes. so, I always push myself to be the best I can and at the end of the day I’m happy with that.
Be humble and respectful will get u further than u think in life then just being bull headed.
Communication is important, as well as vision.
always keep people around u that want to see u win and
being an independent artist money is tough, but u have to be willing to invest in yourself if u want to see yourself win.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Well, I’m a full-time electrician as well as full time care giver and artist.
I have done this profession for almost 11 years now. I love helping others which is why I love that business of being an electrician.
I am known for keeping my word, being prompt and professional. I follow these same beliefs into my music as well which is why it tends to separate me from others in the business, I am very passionate about what I do and take it very seriously.
I’m proud of my dedication thru all the fire I’ve been thru I’m still standing here to tell u about my life thru my music and dedication for my work
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
That not everything is a hit, and nothing is given to you. It takes hard work, dedication, sacrifices and life choices to maybe have the chance.
