Today we’d like to introduce you to II Dope Chics .
Hi II Dope Chics, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
In 2019, we were out with some friends and begin to discuss events for the more seasoned and mature audience in Jacksonville. Filled with excitement, we articulated how we could pour back into the community by donating a portion of the proceeds from the events to different organizations to further impact our own community. Right before the pandemic hit, in January 2020, we had our very first event called Bless the Mic. We did a comedy brunch and later catapulted that into II Dope Brunch & Bingo that is now in its fourth year here in the city of Jacksonville. We have a signature summer event, “Paisleys, Pastels, & Pumps” as well as a signature winter event, “Noir In The City.” We have donated to numerous not for profit organizations. We have sponsored many back to school activities and given a huge portion of proceeds to Duval County Public Schools, women and children’s shelters, etc. We have a fantastic relationship and partnership with VyStar Credit Union that helps to create more efforts to involve and give back to the community. We are so proud to announce this year, we started our very own not for profit II Dope Chics Give A Care. Through our foundation, we will be able to provide even more opportunities in the community.
Through our foundation, we will be able to provide even more opportunities in the community. We love what we do with II Dope Chics as it is a testament to our core values and company culture. II Dope Chics is really comprised of two really dope chics! Owners, Millicent E. Daniels, Esq. is a seasoned civil and criminal defense attorney in private practice with the Daniels Law Firm. Shawnta Pride is the Firm Administrator for the Daniels Law Firm as well as an Adjunct Professor at Florida State College at Jacksonville. Working and helping people is what we do!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been an easy road at all. We face so many challenges on a daily basis. We are women in a male-dominated arena. We are not the usual suspects for this type of work. This was supposed to be a part-time endeavor that has quickly evolved to more full-time in addition to everything else we have going on. We juggle a plethora of responsibilities. In addition to II Dope Chics, the Daniels Law Firm and my duties as an Adjunct Professor, we also take very good care of our 22 year-old daughter that sustained a traumatic brain injury in a motor vehicle accident. She’s thriving and living her best life. However, we have to ensure at all times that she’s good mentally, physically, emotionally, and socially. However, we know we are built for all of this and everything else that is in store for us.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Millicent E. Daniels, Esq. is known for being #thepeoplesattorney and being a passionate personal injury attorney. Shawnta Pride is known for her role at the Daniels Law Firm, in education, as well as the backbone of II Dope Chics. Together, we are just two women that strive to make a difference. This makes us proud to know that we are beginning to see our impact and rejuvenates us to work even harder. We are also proud that we have created our own path. We stay in our own lane. We do what we are led and motivated to do without looking to the right or left to see what others are doing. We have tunnel vision and only look up and forward.🙏🏽
As professionals, we feel as though what sets us apart from others is our genuine compassion for others. Because of our genuine compassion for others, we pay close attention to detail and do our best to exceed expectations. We take customer service very seriously. We also pride ourselves on being active in the community and giving back in deed, time, energy, and of course financially.
How do you define success?
We define success by what aligns with our values. Success is not about “having it all” or “having more than others” it’s about making a REAL difference. Success is simply asking yourself “Are you proud and happy with the life you live?” When you can answer that question and wholeheartedly, truthfully, and candidly mean it, then you have found your success. Happiness is the key to success. If you find your happiness, there awaits success.
