Hi Tabitha, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started my professional photography career in 2017, focusing initially on wedding photography in Jacksonville, Florida. I loved capturing those special moments for couples and families, but over time, I found myself drawn to the creative freedom of studio photography. This led me to transition from weddings to a more controlled, imaginative studio environment, where I could explore new ideas and styles.
In 2024, I founded Jax Mini Sessions Studio, a dream I had been nurturing for years. I wanted to create a versatile and welcoming space for photographers, content creators, and clients to come together, collaborate, and create stunning images. The studio is a reflection of my passion for fostering a creative community in Jacksonville—a place where everyone can feel inspired and supported.
Since opening the studio, I’ve been excited to offer a variety of services, from hourly rentals to seasonal setups and special events. It’s been an incredible journey, and I’m thrilled to see how Jax Mini Sessions Studio has grown into a hub for creativity and connection in Northeast Florida. I can’t wait to continue this adventure and see where it takes us next!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It certainly hasn’t been a smooth road, but every challenge has been a learning experience that has shaped me and my business into what it is today.
One of the biggest struggles in starting Jax Mini Sessions Studio was building it from the ground up. Securing the right location, designing the space to be versatile yet inviting, and making sure it was equipped with everything photographers and content creators needed took a lot of planning and resources. There were moments when I doubted whether I could make it all come together, especially when unexpected issues arose, like delays in construction or the financial strain of outfitting the studio with high-quality furnishings and props.
Balancing the roles of photographer, business owner, and community builder has been another hurdle. I wear many hats, and it can be overwhelming at times to manage the daily operations of the studio, maintain client relationships, and also carve out time for my own creative projects.
Despite these obstacles, the support from the local photography community and my clients has been incredible. Every struggle has been a stepping stone, teaching me resilience, patience, and the importance of adaptability. I’ve learned that even when the road is rough, perseverance and passion can lead to something truly rewarding.
