Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole “nickynicole” Donald Divas Of The Roundtable Podcast
Hi Nicole “NickyNicole” Donald, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It all started with a bunch of us, that has been friends for over 30 yrs joking about starting a podcast. Us girls usually sat around eating seafood and sipping wines, etc just talking “girl talk” with a lot of comedy and sass. We understood quickly that we had something to say and share with others. So after a lot of phone conversations and show ideas, we launched Divas of the Roundtable Podcast. We wanted to use our platform to highlight others in our area that was doing positive things as well.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We started out as a podcast of four women. That’s four different personalities with four different sets of ideas. That was ok, but we discovered we all didn’t have the same drive and end goal. So one of our members left the podcast. It was a huge blow, but a needed growing pain to happen in order to bring peace, tranquility and order back to the group. We still have differences of opinions every now and then, but we are able to discuss, work through and move forward more smoothly now.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
NickyNicole~ I am a merchant mariner. I work on tugs in the LA and Long Beach habors. I’m most proud that my younger brother and sister and now my youngest son chose to follow in my footsteps.
Carleta “SpicyRedd” Brown~ Is a professional truck driver. She’s one of hundreds of female drivers that’s working and thriving in what was once a male dominated industry.
Nakia “Ladybug” Reed~ is a teacher for Duval County Public Schools. With 27 yrs as in educator in the city, that longevity speaks VOLUMES.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Follow your dreams and stay true to who you are as a creator. Get you a support system of people around you who knows your vision and who will always keep it real with you. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and take constructive criticism. Starting out, I wish I knew more about how social media works. Also, I wish I had taken a few classes on content creation.
