Today we’d like to introduce you to Cynthia Maldonado
Cynthia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I originally wanted to be a singer and still do. At the time I was scared and didn’t know how to pursue my dream. I instead joined the military and became a military police officer for the United States Army for a couple years. I got out went to school and got my bachelors degree in forensic science. Decided I didn’t want to be a cop and pursued modeling instead. I started taking modeling seriously and began getting deals with a lot of well known brands like fabletics, FashionNova and pretty little thing. I walked in New York fashion week. I also do cosplay modeling and I’m currently working on my music as well. My plan is to become the trifecta (actor, singer, model).
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the main obstacles was confidence. Having thick skin is a must in a world where you’re in front of a camera majority of the time. When you put it all out there people tend to have something to say good or bad. Another obstacle I wasn’t aware I’d face is my tattoos. I’ve noticed it’s been hard to find an agency to sign with because of my tattoos. It seems even in a day where majority have tattoos, modeling agencies still prefer clean blank canvases.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a fashion and lifestyle influencer and model. I create content geared around everyday life like restaurants, travel, experiences and fashion. I show the trends in clothing and model it on a curvy body type. I also do cosplay modeling. I creat my own version of characters on a plus size curvy body.
How do you define success?
I define success with freedom.
