Today we’d like to introduce you to Malik/Mr. Hicks/Aimless.
Hi Malik/Mr., we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Aw Man! How i started? I started in my room,in the apartment i was staying in with my mom my ; I was 20 years old. Up until that point i had been telling myself and pretty much banking on the idea that i was going to college. Specifically i was aiming to be at Full Sail University in Orlando.I ended up geting the chance to go on a tour of the campus with a friend; and i fell asleep midway thru the day. So after i got back to the city i realized that what i had been working towards all this time obviously was not for me! So i brainstormed a few options and arrived at the next best option: Fashion.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I wish! The brand that i am working with and have been displaying is actually my 2nd attempt. My first attempt was a brand called: Branded(i know,not too deep) and it had an equally simple mission statement too match its simple name. I started that brand with two friends that i had went to highschool with. it was nice in the beginning but near the middle the energy of the whole thing just kind of got off track. long story short we decided to dissolve the partnership and business as it was. We still remain friends though, and i still have my brand.
Also being a entrepenuer does not always come with a clear cut path thats easy to follow. It definitely takes support system regardless of who is running the business. Depression can slow your progress just as much as lack of funds!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My work is sparing these last few years. However i usually find it with the people that cared enough to venture out and purchase it in the furst place. My specialty? Clothing, What am i most proud of? Everything i havent put out yet.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
i stopped buying clothes out of stores and online in 2015. so i only can wear pretty much that i make. stay ready and there is no need to get ready.
