Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaime Sabella
Hi Jaime, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My business, XOXO By Jaime, officially launched in January 2024, but the seeds were planted long before that. As a Fine Art & Graphic Design student at Flagler College, I’ve always been passionate about creativity. My love for art started with simple continuous line drawings and evolved into watercolor painting and digital illustration.
From a young age, I found joy in creating personalized gifts for friends and family. This passion for customization naturally led me to explore the world of handcrafted stationery, small gifts, party supplies, and art prints. My designs are whimsical, often incorporating my signature handwriting, which adds a personal touch to each piece.
The idea to turn my hobby into a business came when I realized how much people appreciated the uniqueness of my creations. Whether it was a custom birthday card or a special party favor, the positive feedback encouraged me to take the leap.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It certainly hasn’t been a smooth road. Right after high school, I started at an out-of-state university, but I found myself feeling extremely discouraged and unmotivated. It was a challenging time because I didn’t feel like I was in the right place or on the right path. I decided to leave that university and took a position as an art teacher in South Carolina for a year. It was during this time that I rediscovered my love for creating art. Teaching allowed me to reconnect with my passion, and I realized that my struggles were not a sign of failure but a redirection. This experience taught me that any path worth taking is rarely smooth. There will always be struggles, but they help narrow down your true path and purpose. Each challenge has made me more resilient and determined to pursue my passion for art and design. Starting XOXO By Jaime has been a journey filled with both difficulties and triumphs, but every step has brought me closer to where I am today, and I wouldn’t change a thing.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in handcrafted stationery, small gifts, party supplies, and art prints. My creations are known for their fun designs and my signature handwriting, which add a unique and personal touch to each item.
I’ve always had a passion for line drawings, watercolor painting, and digital illustration. These skills are at the heart of everything I create. Whether it’s a set of custom party invitations, a personalized gift, or a beautiful art print, my goal is to bring joy and a bit of fun into everyday life.
What I’m most proud of is seeing how my work resonates with people. Knowing that something I created can bring a smile to someone’s face or make their celebration a little more special is incredibly rewarding. It’s that connection with my customers that drives me. What sets me apart is my commitment to personalization and quality. Each piece I create is made with care and attention to detail. I love collaborating with clients to bring their visions to life, ensuring that every item is as unique as they are. My background in fine art and graphic design allows me to blend traditional techniques with modern trends, creating pieces that stand out and make an impact. In essence, XOXO By Jaime is not just about selling products; it’s about sharing a piece of my heart and creativity with others. I’m excited to continue growing my business and bringing more unique and joyful creations to life.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Risk-taking is an essential part of growth and success, especially in the creative field. I believe that without taking risks, it’s challenging to discover new opportunities and push the boundaries of what’s possible. Launching my own business meant stepping into the unknown and investing time, energy, and resources into something I deeply believed in. There were no guarantees of success, but I knew that taking this leap was necessary to pursue my passion fully.
I view risk as an opportunity for growth and learning. It’s not about being reckless but about making calculated decisions that align with your goals and values. Taking risks has taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of following my intuition.
In the end, every risk I’ve taken has brought me closer to where I want to be. It’s about embracing uncertainty and trusting that the journey will lead to new and rewarding experiences. For anyone considering taking a risk, I’d say, weigh the potential outcomes, trust your instincts, and be prepared to learn from whatever comes your way.
